@IC3 - Rare CB400 super four VTEC for sale, same model as mine, same year in fact! Looks in really good condition, and it's done 10k km, not miles - that's 6000 miles!

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HONDA-CB400-SUPER-FOUR-HYPER-V-TEC-IN-SILVER-AMAZING-JAP-IMPORT-400106-/151843224518?hash=item235a8fbbc6

Price is a bit steep mind, should be about £500 cheaper IMO

Cheers, I was away and didn't really want to waste time on the internet. Looking at it now, shame its gone.

Edit:

I'll most likely get SV650 or something along those lines, I wouldn't mind a SV650 in black with full fairings. :)

o i love big nuts n big tools:p

 :p

Bike insurance is always cheaper than car insurance even with a pillion cover, my insurance for the car has dropped by 300-500 quid since the last time I looked. Still over 1000 compared to 300-400 for the bike... Where's the logic? You can ride a 3x faster bike with 3-4x cheaper insurance. lol

After having a licence a year you're not classed as a 'new rider' so insurance goes down a lot - and some places have a 'must have had licence a year' rule for test rides.

Still planning to put money away over winter and next summer, then look for a second summer/touring bike next winter - top of the list being a 2011 Multistrada 1200S, in white ;)

Your less likely to kill a third party or injure anyone on a bike I suppose vs a big car

But all insurance is a rip off

Yeah it is - fingers crossed I'll be able to keep my insurance under £100 for the year for the CB come December. I'm looking at getting a garage (a metal one from Asgard - expensive but I wouldn't get a 'nice' bike without a garage) but I doubt I'll get it before next summer.

Just done a quote on a Multistrada - £550 fully comp :)

I want 2 bikes as doing 15k a year on one bike is too much - I could look at getting a bike for commuting and touring, and a 2nd weekend/summer bike, but that would mean doing 13000 miles a year on one and only a couple of thousand on the 2nd bike, whereas a 2nd summer/touring bike would get 5000 miles use and the CB would get around 10000 miles on it.

But driving a 2 seater such as MX5 1.8 you're less likely to kill your passenger. Than you're killing the pillion sitting at the back of your bike without a cage around them, its more likely you'll die on a bike than in a car accident.

So no logic in this...

Doesn't seem a bad price after just one year in the saddle.

Indeed - I was getting that sort of price as a new rider on £5k, 100bhp, 600cc naked bikes, so the same price a year later on a £8k, 150bhp 1200cc bike is ok by me.

And realistically I'll have had my licence for 2 years when I'll be ready to buy one.

A car is much more of a weapon than a bike - just look at the accidents (ok, with lorries, but cars aren't that much smaller) with vehicles ploughing into pedestrians. If you lost control of an MX5 at 40mph and hit a line of people waiting for a bus - the payout would be in many, many figures. On a bike, you'd maybe hit a couple of them, maybe one serious injury. In a car, many dead. :( Don't forget you're paying for third party cover (damage you can do to others) as much as as damage to your own vehicle, and in a car that potential damage is much, much higher.

So the insurance will be even cheaper, I wonder what my insurance will be like after 2 years with no claims will be on a GSXR 750. Supersports seem to be the most expensive to insure, too many show off's like those bikes... :(

True, but when you have 0 ncb mostly you pay because of the idiots that claim. :p Youngster statically is more likely to cause an accident in their chavy pimped corsa. I wonder what the insurance situation with the insurance would be like if more people rode bikes...

£508 fully comp for a GSXR750 with the same details as the Ducati :D (1 year licence)

But remember I'm an old bugger :(
