What did you do to your bike today?

I'd have to do some research to see if the swingarm bolt (presuming they attach to this) is the same, but it's possible. As you say, one you have the main kit it's just a tenner each time you change bikes.

Although... there is something about the single sided swingarm paddock stand that I love, and there might be a space issue getting down the side of the bike.

haha, yeah I'd already seen that clip. As I say though, space might be an issue - when i get my garage, it'll be just under 5ft wide inside, which should mean 2 bikes will fit, top to tail (nearly 11ft long so they can overlap by a couple of ft) but each bike will still be as tight as possible to the wall, and probably the left side of the bike up against the wall. For storage, a paddock stand can be put in from the rear but the abba stand needs more clearance on the left side.

the strap at the back looks unsafe but its fine

they are just easier than paddock stands imo, plus they don't scratch your swingarm like a paddock stand can,esp the cup type

(you cant remove front forks either with a paddock stand unless you have one that lifts it from underneath the steering head/yoke)

Could have sworn I checked the chain last week before I put the bike away and it was fine but last night I checked it before my ride home and it seemed quite loose.
Anyway watched this video

and had a go, looks alright but I'll buy a chain alightment kit just to make sure I haven't messed up.
Thank god for videos like this, I hate having to rely on written instructions when doing something like this for the first time.

That Abba stand looks really dodgy, I don't know why... But I wouldn't trust it, paddocks seem to be stabler.

Really? Paddock stands look dodgy to me while that Abba Stand look rock solid. In the unlikely event I ever buy a bike without a centre stand I'll be getting one.

just get the adjuster markings each side of the swingarm the same and youll be alright for alignment

find the tightest part of the chain and adjust it then, might have a slack or tight spot

Yeah I've had a look at that although it's a bit dark here but almost everyone seems to suggest not to rely on those. I'm trying to find a ruler like the one used in the video.

Or you can wind the adjuster nut in all the way (so the chain is loose) then tighten each side the same amount of turns. if I'm adjusting my chain that's how I do it. Half a turn of tightening = half a turn on the other side.

That's kinda what I did, copied from the video, but I don't want to rely on it and want to make sure everything is ok.

The one in that picture is a vernier, used to measure inches and MM's :)

Cheers.

its up to yourself,im just saying ive never had any trouble with them being out

mine were like yours on two kmx 125's

Well I'm relying on them for the time being as I don't have any choice but I'd like to double check everything. Anyway I bought my torque wrench with me and it's all done now. Took 10 mins I'll lube the chain again when I get home in the morning. One of the few jobs that I didn't completely mess up, feels good :D

Special points ;)

All done!

While putting them on, I noticed there's no longer a balance weight on the front (should have checked while they were still at the shop, but forgot). Called the guy up and he said it was balanced fine without, so there was no need. Does that sound right?

Ride up to 40 - 50 mph and take your hands off the handle bars and see what happens.

Never come across a front that did not need balancing.
