What did you do to your bike today?

I bought a Suzuki GSF 650 SAK8 last Friday. Private sale. The same day, and obviously I'd have walked away if this happened when I was viewing, the starter motor packed in.

Just fitted a new starter and she starts up lovely again :)

Started looking at MT-07's as a first bike, i'm used to the upright position now after riding the Duke.

Think they look great too!

I'm thinking the same man, for me it is either an MT-07 or a 650 Bandit.

Mate at work has a bandit, they are nice but i wan't something more modern, my choices are ZX-6R 636, Daytona 675R, KTM Duke 690, Yamaha MT-07/MT-09, CBR600RR, Street triple 675, GSXR600.

Quite a variety :p i know they all offer different riding styles, position and power, just can't decide :(

The fastest is the 636 with 129HP, i want something with loads of torque for overtaking etc though a 636 with 129HP, i don't think torque will be an issue! :p

What's yours like when it comes to overtaking? Just a flick of the wrist and you're past?

Does yours wheelie in 1st and 2nd if you give it too much?

Its good at overtaking yeah,no it doesn't wheelie, but I've never really really gunned it and tried, idk whether the 2011 one will

The zx10r does it wheelies no sweat just throttling on to much

Edit I prefer one that doesn't wheelie tbh,you can just gun it and get all the power down without worrying

Had a phone call from the insurers this morning, VFR is a write off. imagined it would be, even though its mostly cosmetic damage, new farings are ~£250 per panel, easily £1k plus all in for the farings and thats not even painted, nevermind the electrical damage.

On the hunt for another cheap VFR or maybe even a VTR next time, but i might get my car license out the way first, sell the hornet and get one as a winter project ready for some touring in 2017.

My SV has about 60-70 bhp and that is a hell of a difference from a 125.

All of the bikes you have listed will have the poke to overtake without even thinking about it.

They're all fast. Overtaking capabilities become irrelevant at this level.
Also, if you want torque, try out that 690 Duke ;)

Anything that's bigger than a 125 pretty much won't have an issue with overtakes, I don't run out of overtaking poke until well over the motorway speed limit.

Does anyone else get those rides where everything just feels right, compared to those rides where you're changing gears like a one legged donkey and have the grace of a hippo?

Had a great ride into the office this morning, everything just flowed nicely even though the traffic was rough.

haha, yeah I'd already seen that clip. As I say though, space might be an issue - when i get my garage, it'll be just under 5ft wide inside, which should mean 2 bikes will fit, top to tail (nearly 11ft long so they can overlap by a couple of ft) but each bike will still be as tight as possible to the wall, and probably the left side of the bike up against the wall. For storage, a paddock stand can be put in from the rear but the abba stand needs more clearance on the left side.

You can get castor wheels for the Abba stands that let you roll the bike around in any direction to get it right into a corner.

That Abba stand looks really dodgy, I don't know why... But I wouldn't trust it, paddocks seem to be stabler.

It's far more stable than paddock stands. Far, far more stable.

Yeah I saw that, still adds another £50 to the cost. I'll see what the options are when I get myself a garage built.

The skylift one looks awesome, but it's £500!:eek:

And for overtakes, my 400 needs to be over 7k for any power for overtakes, so a change down or 2, a torquey 100bhp v-twin is "any gear, any revs" - twist and you're in the next county :D
