What did you do to your bike today?

it broke down the same day riding it home from the shop I bought it from

the fork seals leaked, the starter motor broke free from the engine casting, various electrical problems I traded it in for my zx6r:D

it was nice when it worked but was in the shop being repaired more times than I rode it

(I did get some funny looks from the staff later on where id traded it in for my ninja haha, they must have known what a dog it was)

ill dig out a picture of it if I can find it,only took one pic

How many issues did you have with it? :p

Only fluid was coming out, the valve is at the top just like it was before I took it apart.

Try getting a tyre pump and seeing if you can get the pistons to move by pumping some air in. They should move out quite freely, you only need the fluid so you can apply real force.

Pumping air in through the bleeding valve? I've a Joe Blow pump, that should do the job. I would have to pick up the bike from the mechanic, I got a whole week off might as well give it a go. I really don't want to spend 40+ quid if the pump thing will work. :p

Edit

Oh okay, so I can pump air in through the whole where the fluid goes into the caliper, that's cleaver and it might work. I'll give it a go tomorrow after work! :) On lunch quickly go down there, pick up my bike and try it out after work.

What do you guys recommend for waterproof trousers?

Need something to go over my jeans in case it rains next weekend when i'm doing my DAS!

Yep I have them and the jacket, they're pretty thick and well made. As I'm tall and have folded knees on my bike I've 'modded' mine with straps and clips to go under my boots as they were getting close to the top of my boots without being held down.

Completely waterproof though, do the job brilliantly.

Do you do the major services yourself, or is it massively overdue valve clearance checks?

yeah serviced myself, forgot to add full caliper seal/rebuild to that list, and plugs replaced once since new,oil/air/filters/pads/chain and sprocket done by me

and the valves aint been checked since 18k so yeah waay overdue

I use Berghaus Deluge overtrousers - can be had for £30 online atm, nice and long and they have 3/4 length zips down the sides (so really easy to put on in a hurry) and poppers down the sides as well so you can have them on without being zipped up so avoid the 'boil-in-a-bag' effect when it's warm. Completely waterproof as well. :)

I have ordered the Richa ones but if they fail, i'll try your suggestion, cheers. :)

Adjusted chain slightly, lubed, cleaned, bought a new tyre pressure checker - mine and my brothers were reading differently, so thought it best to have another to check against. Turns out mine is perfect and gives same readings as the new one :D
