What did you do to your bike today?

Yep they're deffo the circuit 743, which aren't made any more by the look of it.

Pistonheads classifieds are good too, that's about it. Join some local Facebook biker groups too, they'll have bikes for sale every so often.

You know when they say, that shopping for 'new' bikes/cars is exciting and fun? I F hate that, once I make the purchase its ok... I don't mind looking either. But I hate timewasters who hide things or don't mention it, then you turn up and clearly see that the bike is utter garbage.

My bike sold the same day I posted my AD, I agreed with the guy to deliver him the bike the next day as his little son was ill and he would have difficulties arranging a transport for it since he only rides bikes too. I managed to get the money back which I've invested, so I was quite lucky. :) But then again I tried to keep my AD honest, that's why I included picture of the alternator along with a small history of the bike in the AD/ :D

Good to see this thread still busy despite the weather, Other places I frequent have dropped off a cliff the last few weeks.

I've read back a few pages & agree with whoever said Courier work will kill your love for biking. Seems a great idea to ride around all day on your bike being payed for it but the reality is far from the dream. You'll need a bullet proof bike, Shaft driven old work horse, Wear/Carry untold kit to cover all situations weather wise. You've also got to be pretty damn fit to be able to cope with 8+ hours a day on a bike 5 days a week. You'll also have to get good with the spanners as you'll be using them every weekend & some week nights to keep your bikes on the road. I say bikes because the London Couriers I knew always had a spare handy. You have to fix the bikes yourself or you'll be working like a Dog just to pay your Bike shop repair bills. No matter what bike you have it'll use consumables Pads/tyres/bulbs/filters/oil/chain/sprockets, You're talking about up to 30k on a bike in a year so you best have those spanners real handy.

Those that are not put off by the above can have a look here;
Linky - https://www.citysprint.co.uk/Workwithus/Courierwork/Applyhere/

Some Girl who I've ignorantly forgotten the name of works there & does it on a 125 Scooter round the City. It's a genuine Link & a good place to start. :)

If anybody does try it lets us know how you get on.

As for me I'm thinking of taking the car & satnav & going to find Fat Skeleton & getting the Perfect lid & glasses set up for me.
ACF50 seems to be doing it's job as far as repelling water, I've never seen owt Bead quite like it.

I wouldn't mind being a courier part time, so doing odd hours 1-2 days a week if the money was good. I wouldn't do it as a full time job, I'm happy sitting in an office with climate control and a free vending machine. :p

I know what bikes I'm looking for now, its either a XJ6-N or fully faired SV650SA. Apart from looking at Ebay, MCN, Gumtreeuk, BikeTrader... are there any other different sites?

The SV is an infinitely better bike, and I miss mine even though I now have a Street Triple.

Everyone is saying SV, I think it'll have to be SV then. I don't want to be that guy who says "I should have listened, to the advice I was given." :p

BTW You can always get another SV, you can never have enough bikes in your garage. The 2nd hand ones can be had for cheap.

Edit

Hunting a Black SV650SA then, I would get the Gladius... but I don't like design of that bike and that seat doesn't look too comfy. The first thing I'll get for the SV, will be a gel seat and 2nd scorpion slip on. :D

125's always sell fast,i sold mine within a few weeks and made a profit on it

bigger bikes tend to take ages to shift, for me anyway, they always make you silly offers:(

I'm planning on keeping my next bike for at least 2 years in till I pass DAS. I know, I said I'll keep my 125 for a year to have 1 years NCB, but only kept it 7 months... :(

One of the very few bikes I like in black wazza

I do like the sv650, heard one today - looked up.. "ah, that's an SV :D" they sound awesome with a decent pipe.

They're a little small for me or else I probably would have had one.

CB400 isn't exactly a big bike is it? I'm around 186cm tall, SV should be good.

I wonder what the sv1000's are like? bit too thirsty for me I bet

they do sound nice I agree

EDIT: that darker Suzuki blue colour ive seen on a few bikes tbf

The one I ridden when I was around 14-15 was yellow, only had the bikini fairing and had a scorpion slip on I think... I don't think it was a full system.

On private roads of course! :D

This is true, but I remember sitting on an SV650 and the top of the knee cutouts were sitting right on my knee - in otherwords me legs were too big for the tank knee cutouts :D the CB400 doesn't have pronounced cutouts. I'm 6ft 3, 190ish cm.

On cycle ergo it reckons my knees would be even more bent than they are on the cb400, 65 degrees!
