What did you do to your bike today?

Started the bike service today, stripped the bike down got my new clip on installed, fuel filter on, cleaned air filter, fitted new front lights, new battery and took all my calipers off. Got a new chain/sprockets coming, braided front and rear lines, exhaust bracket (it bent when the bike got blown over :() and front pads coming.

When I took the pads out my front calipers particularly the left side they were worn really unevenly on one side, I'm guessing the piston is sticking or something but I've never taken a caliper apart to have a look. Anyone got some advice?

Went to change the oil on mine, first big bike and first oil change I have done myself

Chickened out after reading the manual and it saying to replace the oil drain plug seal washer..........

So not sure whether to crack on without one or try and find one that will fit it before I start

Ordered my Bazzaz quickshifter/traction control ZFi unit today for my Gixer. Sort of a half arsed 'winter project' as I strip it down to fit the loom and control units, i'll give it a check over etc. Might even do a thread on fitting it, with pics of greasy mits and spilt tea, depending how keen I am :D

Changed the oil and filter today, played with the calipers and a few pistons were really sticky so I took them out and gave them all a good clean and they slide nicely now. Waiting on my chain + sprocket kit and braided lines to arrive, anyone know how long it takes the lines to arrive direct from HEL? Ordered them Sunday night and the website says they are still processing

HEL are usually really good, wonder if they went on holiday early? :p

Do it please! The Bazzaz unit is on my buy list, what GSXR do you have again?

I've got the K6 1000. Hoping to get the self mapping control unit to go with it but that's funds permitting! Judging by what I've read there's quite a bit of loom to plum in. Thankfully I'm in the trade so it's not putting me off too much..

At least doing a blog/thread I'll have to take my time and not botch it! /pokerface :D

Hope not! Bit of a pain if I don't get them til new year as the bike is in bits in a nice warm garage at the moment :( Sent them a message last night so I guess I'll find out either way. Got some carbs to balance and a new chain/sprocket set to fit today :)

didn't do anything to the bike, but we have just moved in our newly built house a week ago and I've just spent the last 3 days painting the garage ready for my baby to arrive haha.

For those who have fitted a charging socket, where/how have you mounted it, I just have it wedged between a panel ATM. I just can't see any nice solutions, can see lots of rubbish solutions but nothing nice. Could put it under the seat, but means taking seat off to plug the trickle charger in, which is a lot(not really I'm just lazy) of effort.

I have a K5 1000 so would love to know how you get on!
I have thought of the self mapping unit too because I usually swap around so many different cans.

What do you do then? Bike mechanic?

Truck technician. Stripped down loads of bikes over the years. Have to say i'm glad it's not a 'blade, I look after my mates 09 plate and I'm not a fan, horrible plasticy awkward things (grrr fairings), s1000rr on the other hand, lovely bit of kit to work on, but they were based on one of the best bikes.. ;)

What cans you playing round with? I really fancy a racefit growler or a mega, just can't bring myself to part with the cash for something that will 'just' change the look (am running the tri-oval yoshi)

Getting used to seeing the DR in this state now!

After a weekend off roading in wales and a couple of visits to the bottom of a river I've decided electric start is the way to go!
It started without any tools after being completely drowned but it took a lot of kicking funnily enough.

Managed to stumble on a bargain bottom end off an electric start DR350, £120 and its like new! Still split the cases to have a check on things though.
The big end has virtually no play, crank bearings etc are like new and the gearbox has hardly any wear.

The cases are back together now, just waiting on new gaskets, cam chain, outer clutch basket and a stater motor. Will be using the barrel, piston and head off the old engine as its just been rebuilt! I'll be fitting the kick start to this engine as well, just in case!

Got a couple more bits to find yet, mainly the left cover!

:)

Fitted new chain and sprockets today (they didn't come til 6pm last night), put new straight exhaust bracket on, put new pads in and fixed a few odd jobs. Doing a gig tonight but tomorrow/day after will balance the carbs and put it all back together.

Managed to get in contact with Hel via Facebook and they said all orders were shipped this week so hopefully I'll get my lines next week at some point :)

Well everything is done except the brake lines, after replying to me and saying they would get me shipping info on facebook they have since deleted their reply and not given me any more information. If they did indeed ship everything Friday before Christmas tomorrow is the latest I should get it, so will see I guess but the fact they deleted their message and haven't given me the information they said they would has left me with doubts.
