What did you do to your bike today?

Although the only number that looked like a tooth count on my old rear sprocket looked like it was a 49t one so it'll be interesting to see how it feels back on a 44t

Easy way to check, count the teeth ?

If you are going from a 49 to a 44 it will feel noticable slower on acceleration

I'd spent far too many hours in the cold and drizzle to be that bothered and it's in the bin now :p

Either way I think I prefer the stock setup, it no longer feels like I'm sitting right of the edge of a gear to keep it at 30 going through town and it just seems to suit my riding better.

I use Google Navigation with my phone in a tank bag window and don't have any issues, what does a bike satnav do over a car one?

Not much and definitely nothing to justify the massive price difference, that being said, I assume they should be easier to see in bright sunlight than a phone, they have to work with gloves although they're are ways to make gloves work with all touchscreens but most importantly they plan routes specifically for motorcyclists so you can plan winding routes or off road ones and record where you've been if that's important to you. Although I too love google maps I always like to have an offline option too.

Yeah you'd have to be mad to pay that much. My Rider V5 was 160 CHF just before the current model was released, which is about £110.

For that price it was well worth having.

Yeah if you can get them for that price then absolutely but the Tomtom Rider premium is £399

I really do like the idea of a lockable mount though.

Has anybody used 'waze' on there phones as a sat nav, seems decent enough so far. I mainly have it in my pocket with voice navigation over Bluetooth heafset .

The current tomtom 400 (the one with all of europe) is around £250. They're a lot more than car satnavs, but with a car one there's no dedicated mount, no bluetooth voice instructions, no waterproofing, no winding roads option.

Google maps is OK (better now they've got proper offline maps and navigation, trying navigate in wales with no data was highly frustarating!) but you still can't properly plan routes to load into the software (tyre software with tomtom). I'd love for there to be a tomtom system that actually uses google map data.

When I do some touring I'll be using a tomtom rider with route planned in tyre, and I'll take my nexus 7 32gb with the offline area downloaded on google maps.

Also - new GSXR1000 - blipper, led lights etc.

And Superduke GT has been revealed. 173bhp and 106lb/ft!! :D every single elctric thing under the sun, lean angle stuff, semi active suspension, QS, and so on. Price to be confirmed. Want!!!!

I use Waze on the bike and in the car. I really like it because it's traffic seems to be much more accurate than Google maps.

I have a waterproof case for the iPhone mounted on a RAM ball on the handlebars of the bike. Works a treat.

£250 if you order from fc-moto.de but £300 is the the average price I've seen. The biggest competition doesn't really come from dedicated car sat navs but from phones. I mean you could just use what you've got especially if it's waterproof or pick up a cheap one just for the bike like I have and still have loads of money left over.

Yeah it's odd to me that this is still the case.

£256.99 from Amazon ;)

Phone satnav is perfectly fine for general use, I use Google maps all the time, but for touring and planning routes I found its just plain annoying.

Oh that's not bad, ridiculous that the TomTom Rider 40 is just £6 quid less on Amazon.

If this time next year no one has solved that problem I'm starting a kickstarter. :D

I was looking at getting a brand new one on finance before I passed my test until I decided to save some cash and go for the SV.

I don't think I'd buy an ER6F new even if I could afford it cause there's so many cheap ones about. I mean this 2015 one is £3799 with ABS and has only done 120 miles.

Edit Oh just noticed it's cat D, well that explains it. Almost phoned my bank there lol.

Well.... That was interesting.

The least fun I've had on a bike! So damned windy, had to do about 40 on the A1. Miracle that i didn't come off or get blown into someone.
