What did you do to your bike today?

Indeed! I could always go and trade it in for what i want, but having the bike i want sitting there not being able to ride it, don't think i could do it ha!

At the moment i'm set on a ZX-6R but that may change one i have tried out a few, i'll be testing a ZX-6R, KTM Duke 690, CBR600RR, Yamaha MT-07, GSXR-600, CBR650F, ER-6F, basically going to test a mix between naked and sports to see what suits me best. :)

ZX6R by far :)

I have been eyeing up a new bike for next year, but I don't know what I want. I want a power increase up to around 150bhp and wouldn't mind something designed for longer distance. I love a good weekend blast and I'd love to go to a bigger sports bike but the insurance sports bike over the 600cc class is insane. My ZX6R (636cc) costs £340 a year to insure, a GSXR 750 is £850, and a Ducati Multistrada is £500. As a cheaper alternative I've also been looking at a Z1000SX and this is only £345 a year insurance so it's viable..

My CBR gets taken away tomorrow but some bodyshop of Allianz's choice, anything I need to take off/prepare the bike? I feel it will be a write off (cat d) but I will buy it back.

Too many stickers, reminds me of a boy racer Corsa, but in a bike form... If this 'thing' he tried to achieve was done properly like e.g.

It could have looked decent, but it doesn't...

I'm not sure if I like this er6-f. There is nothing wrong with it, the suspension is night and day over my 18yr cbr, and the gearbox is blowing my mind d at how smooth it is. The seat is comfy a handle bars are the right height. The throttle is super smooth, progressive and the power is there in any gear. The upright position allows you to just glide round corners on rails. But it's just not me :( the throttle is jerky in town or constant speed limits, it seems all or nothing. It just doesn't have that raw and ready twist and scream attitude that a sport bike does. A poorly timed mistake of a downshift saw the rear wheel lock and squirm away in the wet today, I quickly learnt to respect the power of a twin engine on that rear wheel. I want to like this bike but it just doesn't make me smile. A 400 mile trip to and around Norfolk has been planned to settle my minds debate.

The ER6N I had for a while (identical bike, different looks) was a piece of **** compared to my old SV650. It's just a hateful little thing in comparison.

Yeah I did my DAS on an er6n, the one one with the weird analoge speedo and digital rev counter. On the basis of riding one for a few days I've never buy one.

The rear wheel thing was probably due to having much, much more engine braking on a twin.

I still don't get why bikes don't have analogue speedos. They're so much easier to get a grasp of acceleration from. Or at least digital speedos in the design of an analogue one.

Not sure what price range/years you're looking at but my two mates both had the CBR600RR (2008 and a 2011) and both said that my ZX-6R (2010) felt much more aggressive.

both commented on the steeper/lower bars, more rake and the fact it was the first 600 to really throw them back in the seat. I've ridden both of their CRBs and if I'm honest they felt very different. Not in a bad way but it felt light on at the front (and maybe a little easier at slower speeds) probs due to ability to sit slightly more upright on the bike but defo didn't feel as quick although had no issues keeping up ;) ;)

Digital speedos are easier to read though, your speed is right there. Plus if you ride in europe, they can be switched to mph rather than having to strain to see the tiny kph writing when you see a 80kph sign and think "is that 40mph, or 50mph? oops!"

The perfect combination IMO is analoge rpm and digital speed. Which why I found the er6n with them the other way around very strange!

I hate the Digital speedos, during sunny days I could see F all on my KTM's dashboard, not mentioning the rev counter was impossible to see at what rpm's you were on exactly. I like the simple old dashboards, the modern bikes have too much info on it.

The analog rev & speedo also gives you that satisfaction which you don't get on a digital.

So following on my SV650S ponderings the other day I went to look at one today and it's £2750 for a 2005 with 8k miles on it, very good condition. They'd give me £800 for my CBF500 (needs 2 new tyres for the MOT next month and some damage on rear hugger) so I'd be paying £2k.

Should I go for it? It's a sexy red one ;)

That's quite expensive for a 10 year old sv650, considering a 1-2 year old example is only £1000 more.

Is it a red one with no lower fairings and a standard exhaust?
