Brrr, cold ride home tonight, my fingers were just starting to numb a bit after 40 minutes. legs were fine with the merino base layers under my kevlar jeans. Might have to break out the muffs for Monday! :(

did you need the adaptors?

Yep. What was so confusing was the pictures of the mirrors on my bike on another forum were using what must be old style adaptors which I couldn't find anywhere and initially assumed I needed them or they came with the mirrors.

In the end I just went for what they recommended and it worked out perfectly :)

Could I get fined, if I mounted a numberplate like that on a bike? Technically its still perfectly seeable, right?

I really want to avoid a tail on my next bike, I want a numberplate mounted like this. I'm also planning on getting rear light with inbuilt indicators and at the front depending on the bike I'll get mirrors with indicators or mount them nearby the headlight. :)

I'm not a fan of the integrated tail light/indicators, I'm pretty sure they're illegal too. Of course if you bike has a huge lump of plastic as a numberplate hanger then get a small tail tidy, but not something that (probably) will end up getting you pulled over.

Same with tiny numberplates, I see these on used bikes and I think they just look ridiculous - I'm talking the tiny plates with tiny letters all on one line (motorbike plates s have to be on 2 lines). Slightly smaller than normal is fine (7x5), just not ridiculous.

I just don't see the point. I mean even the most sexy sportsbike has several bits of plastic/carbon/metal sticking out of it, does one more really make that much of a difference?

But I would like to keep the bike as it was designed, without any stupid indicators sticking out or some tail tidy's.

The same goes for mirrors, there's currently a motovlogger who owns an MT-07 that is testing different mirrors to see which ones work and look best. I don't know what bike I'll get yet, but already making a massive to-do lists for every bike I look at, all those ideas just pop up in my head. :p

Edit: Its the same with my duke, the bike looked so much better without the mirrors, they were useless any ways as I could only see my shoulders no matter how I adjusted them...

Well so long as you don't pick looks over safety. There's a reason indicators are mounted separate to the rear light, the rear light on most bikes in in the middle! Just get some nice sleek LED indicators.

Mirrors, agree about getting some nice ones, but if they look awesome but you can't see anything in them, well...

Yeah I wouldn't go for number plate underneath like that. Imagine how quickly it'd be unreadable in this weather + it's just asking for attention! 7x5 looks much nicer with a tail tidy. While 7x5 are technically a bit small, they're fine - still readable at the 20m distance and further, plus if you go for standard font etc. then you'll be fine.
