What did you do to your bike today?

I don't need anything expensive as it'll be just for my bike, looking around there's a makita 48 piece socket set for £22, no point in spending £150 at halfords as it'll be a waste of money.

What size? If it's a flimsy 1/4" drive set then it will be of limited use. Ideally you want a set that includes at least 1/2" and 1/4" drives which should cover most situations.

It's hard to beat the value of the Halfords Pro sets when they are on offer.

I need a socket set, been using the one that came with my car but it's a faff having to keep putting it back etc.

Don't go cheap on tools, you'll just strip everything. Bahco do some good quality smaller sets which are cheaper if you don't want/need everything in the Halfords sets.

As above, just go for the Halfords kit. It'll last your life and cover most jobs. The only things you might need in addition is a bigger torque wrench for the wheels.

pity, you just missed a deal on the Halfords 120 piece advanced socket set, they were £54 lastnight, but deal has expired now

EDIT: how did you get on with charging your battery? did it work? bike ok ect

I don't think it's ever been £300 :D I got mine for £135 around this time last year, don't forget your topcashback or quidco cashback as well that's another couple of quid off.

I think the only other must have is a good length breaker bar, anything else I've bought tool wise is mostly because well shiny.

Also, how could I forget the trusty rubber mallet. Sometimes things just need some gentle persuasion.

I think a good footpump is the best piece of kit to own,im still searching for a good one, might get my broken one welded as that was decent

When I was at the track event last week almost everyone who had pumps had some kind of high end looking tower bicycle pump and not a normal garage footpump like most of us.

May be worth looking into one of those.

That's what I use, nothing to bend and break like a normal foot pump and generally much less effort.

I decided to give my 50cc scooter a boost on it's life.
So new and bigger battery, new complete wire loom, new rectifier, new ignition barrel, oil change, gear oil, new rear tyre, new brake pads, new mirrors, new fuel line, new fuel filter, new transmission belt and new rollers... basically I spent 2/3 of it's value doing this.

When the scooter was like this, I got a call from my manager saying that they made a mistake on the rota and if I could go to work in 2 hours.:eek:

Tomorrow the 125cc is getting, oil change, iridium spark plug, windshield and some acf-50

The 650cc is resting under the cover in a garage, I'm still visiting it every 2 weeks just to make sure everything is ok
