What did you do to your bike today?

I think he means he's claimed twice on that policy/has 2 open claims. The normal "previous claims" bit won't cause any issues apart from an increase in premium.

Got my renewal letter through from Bennett's, £290. So I'll be going with wicked quotes this year. Tried adding an almax series 4 chain and it didn't reduce at all.

Ah, I guess that makes sense then.

Also, yeah, security devices don't seem to make any difference at all. I always ask 'if I got blah blah, what would my price be?'. If it's barely anything, then I don't add it because it means if it gets nicked because you forgot to put the chain/disk lock on, then you're screwed.

I think mine was about £30 cheaper with all my chains and disc locks declared, but like you said if you forget them it just gives them an easy out so I took the £30 hit and removed them from my policy.

Yeah I should have done that as I have to have my Oxford disc lock on for my bike to be covered. Still I guess that's a good idea given I've lost one bike already.

the insurance company aint gonna know if your disclock or chain was fitted or not at the time of the theft

only if they have super duper clear cctv of where it was pinched from, can always claim they must have cut it off if they ever recover the bike ect

Wanted to get out on the bike today but not been feeling too good, only been on my bike once since passing my mod 1, lets hope I haven't lost my balance lol...

Surely they only have to have CCTV of you parking the bike and walking away from it to know that you didn't put the disc lock on but while you're right it's a bad idea to lie to them cause they're always looking for an excuse not to pay out.

yeah that's true, but I still think its hard for them to prove, unless they have really good clear footage ect

if it were me id lie like they do

Doing some final reading up before my MOD2 tomorrow, going over the questions i might get asked, how long is the MOD2?

The official DVSA website states around 40 minutes, but various forums say 30 minutes, 40 minutes and even an hour if your examiner isn't happy with your riding?

When I did my Mod 2 it was very quick and when we got back I found out the guy was desperate for the loo so cut the route as short as he could.

Just ride around like you have Sat Nav in your ear and you'll be fine.

Yeah and if you go the wrong way like I did :( dont panic and just ride safely and all is good.

I can imagine an hour if you are nervous but show potential. But half hour seemed the norm when i did mine. Mine was half hour but was a grim day to be out, i paniced and also went to go right instead of left, he promyed me again proabbly to test what i would do, lucky for me i had plenty of time to do all checks, change indicator, checks again and manouvere. As above the guy behind you is merely your sat nav to get you back to the centre :)

In other news i purcahsed the 'dog' of a VTR :) still struggling to find insurance not in the thousands without using mce or bikesure (i think i may just use bikesure)

This bike will be a massive project, and it will look fit when restored :D will post pictures once i take some. Iv just scored a £900 ohlins shock of ebay for £300, ohlins springs for the forks too. Full ohlins suspension for £400 a very happy sunday for me. I guess next is change will be manual cct's and polish the headers and get some aftermarket exhausts. Yoshimuru RS3's if money allows next year. Or even Blue Flame as im very partial to there sound.

I buy her back yea, i will be trying to sell it cheap to a racer. Its a nice spec bike. Ecspecially with the R1 blue spot calipers i fitted to her.

Make sure you start well and the tester will be onside and know you can ride and wrap it up early. Make mistake early on and theyll be on the lookout. I think bike testers are not powermad Nazis like car testers :p

I cant believe how warm it still is, with xmas next week!
All I have changed from my summer gear so far is stick the lining back in my Dainese jacket... no thermal unders, no buff needed, I have worn my winter gloves once!

I know it wont last but still, enjoying it whilst it does :D

Oh and I got a Shoei GT Air at the show a few weekends ago, such an epic helmet its great!!

Oh and this weekend done my usual winter checks, all calipers unmounted, pistons checked and cleaned, pads all good, oil and rad levels good.
I have had strange feeling coming from the back end and a common one is the suspension linkage system, the bearings go on them with high mileage, and mine are definitely showing some signs of play so that will explain the problems I have been having, not cheap to sort though... £30 for 4 bearings, about £40 for the spacer/sleeves... and in the process of removal I slightly rounded one of the long bolts... Suzuki want £30 for a new one!!
