What did you do to your bike today?

Their list was.

Crash bungs
Gear lever
Gear shift
Bar ends
Full front brake reservoir assembly
Stand bobbins
Mirror
Indicator

I think that was everything.

Plus 2 hours labour for fitting.

Depends on what is livable. The cosmetic bits leave for now and do later, do what you can yourself and the other bits do as and when you can pay for it. Not worth getting insurance involved if you can help it

edit:

I picked up some bullet to suzuki connection leads, although on the pointy there's different connections for the front and rear ones luckily I had a feeling that was the case so double checked before I ordered :o

Good job you did double check eh!? I always find something like that and it's always past the point of no return when you find it as well

In terms of the Mod 1, what is actually involved? I will speak with my instructor on Sunday, but would like heads up on what is involved. Is it quite intensive, what's actually in it, and generally how long does it last?

First thing I'll do is get some Angel GT's put on mine front and back, have heard only positive things about them.

My bike is only 50bhp so more powerful bikes might be different, but wet weather grip is a big thing for me and I never have to think about grip in the wet, which can only be a good thing. I think they're up there with pr3/4's in the wet. I've never lost grip at the rear with them.

You'll ace It. I was really worried but once you're in the gated area just get your head down (metaphorically of course) and you'll breeze through it. Took me about 10-15 minutes tops

Just take your time and don't rush. Chances are by the time you go to do it you'll be more than prepared.

I'd say good luck but I know you'll do fine. Keep your head up (not metaphorically this time lol) and remember your lifesavers. They'll tell you to treat it like your on a road.

Thanks man, hopefully I will feel confident about it before it starts :)

Youtube can also be inconsistent, and incorrect.

I don't think I'm skilled in any way on two wheels yet I found it very easy. Would've had 0 minors had I done the life saver when leaving the test area. I actually made my emergency stop harder for myself as I went too fast! The place where I practice was much smaller (and bumpier) than the test centre so the extra space meant I could go quicker easier :P

I've been watching YouTube for tips on Mod 2 but it's no substitute for the real thing

edit: He goes pretty wide on those figure of eights!
edit 2: Not trying to blow my trumpet but I feel I did much better than he did. His slow riding was super wobbly and on his U Turn he (from the video it seems) looked like he didn't do life-saver, turn but instead did the life saver and manoeuvre in one movement. I was told that was a no no.

Just been out and checked it over, the bar ends needed replacing anyway but one is now a little scuffed so they'll stay, the clutch lever has a tiny scratch on the end but it's just taken the anodising off so again that'll be staying, crash bung looks like it's one designed for the full fairings so it's huge so that'll be staying as it's only a little worn, mirror wasn't damaged the plastic casing is just a bit scuffed from me catching it on the gate getting it in and out so again that'll be staying.

Forgot to look at the bobbins but I don't own a paddock stand so they were just there to look pretty so if it's that bad I'll just take them both off.

So the only things that need replacing is the smashed indicator, gear shift lever and res mount so all in about £60 as I'll be replacing all the indys with led ones.

For Fireskull,

Here's a quick vid of the launch control bud, had to turn it down a little due to the roads being icy (8k limit).

Not my best launch as i let the clutch out far to slow, but you get the idea.

Will try again tomorrow if it stays dry.

Nice!
When I hired the S1000RR the only thing I couldn't test was launch control, used the pit lane limiter a lot though :D

What system is it you have installed on the R6?

Its called an SP Full Race unit by ShiftPower

That is epic!! God now I really need to get one...!
That sound too, what exhaust are you running? shape from the rear looks like a racefit or similar...
:D

Also do you have it running alongside a Power commander or anything?

Lol cheers guys glad you like it, honestly set at 12k the noise is just incredible.

System fitted is a Powertech uk system, looks pretty much like the racefits but it's a little bigger and louder.

No PC Fireskull, just the exhaust and the race unit, bikes been looked after extremely well by previous owner and myself, strong engine too, made 112bhp at the wheel.

I think I have listened to the video about 20+ times now!

Nice one thats a good number for an older 600 and no engine management. :D

Last question, what are you recording with as the sound quality is good!?

I've only ridden in the wet once and it wasn't even that bad, though my 125 came with cheap Indian tyres so it can only be an improvement!

I'm on early shift for a few weeks which means setting off at 5.30am, I certainly won't be risking it on a bike until it gets a bit warmer, I'm going to view a bike Saturday but don't want to have it just sat there, so might hold off buying for a few more weeks.

Yeah I've ridden in biblical rain and never had some much as a twitch, I'm always cautions in the wet when leaning it over but they're great tyres. I'm just waiting for the rear to come down to nearer £90 as it's £99 on oponeo at the moment.

8am for me in the morning so although it's cold, it's never been properly icy.

What bike are you looking at Clov!s?

I might consider getting some Angel GT's, front and back for my SV when I start riding it.

You buying them online and then get them fitted at your chosen garage? How much difference is there buying them at the garage? Or do they not stock those?

Lol you wait till it's set at 12k! Camera believe it or not is just the cheap GoPro hero, 112 quid I paid for it in Argos.
