What did you do to your bike today?

tom_e how are the rizoma knock offs doing? Any pictures of them mounted on the bike?

Sorry mate I did see your post the other day but forgot to reply!

They look good and feel solid but the adaptors they supply for the SV650S would never in a million years actually work so I need to get round to drilling them out so I can get the bolts through or getting a reply from the seller about actually supplying some that will work.
So in short they're in a box in the shed waiting to be fitted still.

Get some thinner bolts?

The holes in the adaptor are blind so I'd have to bolt through from the inside of the frame but the mirror mount points are also blind.

Even if I could bolt through the frame that requires removing my windscreen and dash trim, they really went a bit arse backwards when they thought of this. Mirror fitting should take 2 minutes max!

Booked tickets for the MCN bike show in 2 weeks, gonna have a mooch around and hopefully try on / buy the last bits of gear I need before doing my DAS

Just taxed it, £7 a month :p

You still haven't ridden it? I would go mad, I did 200 miles before my CBT on private roads ofc. :p :D

I got my webcam pointing at mine through a window, using yawcam to stream it, and a dynamic dns provider to give it a nice URL. On the days I can't ride in to work, I can at least keep an eye on it ;).
That sounds cool, can you block the access using a password before someone can watch the stream?

Edit Just an idea, you could use Raspberry Pi as a webcam stream server! :)

Takes me 2 minutes to get the standard ones on and off!
:D

:D

Not yet, I've been getting over night shifts the last 4 days! :p I'm insuring it tomorrow and then maybe if the weather is nice i'll take it out, it's still cold and wet here. :(

This is how you enjoy those sunny, clear days! You earn it by riding in the crap weather and conditions

Ahah I can imagine thats true. I only started riding the end of Nov, so pretty much been cold and wet and crappy each time I've been out. The last few days have been dry and somewhat sunny - the difference that's made has been crazy. I can't imagine how good summer is going to be :D

Just get some mesh textiles, I was sweating in my waterproof dainese jacket... I need to buy some goretex gear, expensive though... :(

Yep. I run it on a non-standard port, so not too worried about password protection. I also have it set up to take photos every 30 seconds at night, so I can see if anyone has been lurking around it - yep, quite paranoid after my last bike got stolen :D

Here it caught me as I set off for work this morning:

Adafruit sell a fona 808 breakout module, one of them plus the gps/gsm antennas, pay as you go sim arduino nano and maybe some accelerometers could be made into a cheap trwcker alsrm that texts you if the bike moves (and you can text to get a gps location)

Chealer than the 400+ quid trackers and service contracts

Cool, I'll do something like that too, my bike will be outside of my window any ways so not too hard to setup a cam!

I would have to buy a raspberry pi & cam, what DNS provider do you use? Some of them are free, not so sure how secure that would be...

BTW Don't you guys think that looking for a bike, is in some ways like looking for a gf? I mean you don't just go out there and buy the first one, its searching for the best you can afford. Once you know your type, you look for the youngest, tidiest, low mileage (cheeky :D) with the best package/accessories model that catches your eye.

I'm using duckdns (.org). It's free and super easy to configure.

I find myself looking at bikes all the time now, changing my mind daily on what I want to get :D. I love supermotard bikes, so looked at wr250x, then ktm 690 smc, then husqvarna 701. Then I started thinking about taller adventure bikes so the tenere XT660Z, or BMW F700gs/F800Gs. That got me looking at the tiger 800 and vstrom 650xt. ahah it's never ending.

I'll probably end up with an mt-07 or something I haven't even considered yet. A guy at work keeps trying to get me to buy his r6 :D

So, I'm not the only one changing his mind everyday on what bike I want? :D
