What did you do to your bike today?

New Exhaust!!

attachment.php

Those baffles look like they will flow about as well as a cork in the end of the exhaust :D

Good job I won't be using them :)

Those are mid pipe baffles, there are also baffles fitted in the exhaust, those will be coming out too.

The bike is a cat C write off... On the plus side I can get it rideable (ignoring the cosmetic side of things) by putting a new front brake lever on it, front right indicator, and sorting the small issue of the throttle jamming open :p

Probably just a trapped throttle cable

I'll have to check but I'm hoping it's just a case of moving the grip away from the linkage. There's no bar ends on it and it went down on the right hand side. Some CBR forums say to check that there is a gap as a first port of call.

Well done, another fully fledged biker on the road

What big bike you fancy getting? Edit: forgot you'd got an sv

Big bikes, i really don't know, I like the SV1000S, but could be too similar to my 650, I like the CB1000R, naked, hooligan-looking bike, and have always had a soft spot's for 06-08 plate R1's :p

I'll be unrestricting SV and will keep it until at the very least july (next Insurance renewal) but more likely I'll keep it for a while yet (Next July, maybe :))

:( how's the bike?

I'm fine, thanks for asking :p Just a bit of pain on the side of my chest.

The real damage is: Smashed indicator, bent rear-brake and a large scuff on the right of the fuel tank (no dent), I am unsure but the forks may be slightly bent. Overall it could have been a lot worse.

As I was cornering on a country lane I hit some fluid (probably just water) and then a large metal cover at which point the front started to slide out, it then brushed up against the curb around some of the corner but then the curb drops and is replaced by mud, that's when it finally gave out.

I don't think I fixated, even when I did start going wide, I was constantly looking into the corner but I don't know how much that would have helped when my wheel was stuck against the curb. Whatever happened, it was probably in my control to avoid it, at least I can take the experience away from this and try to ensure it doesn't happen again.

I have the footage of the crash, I may upload it at some point.

This is what finally made me lose traction when the curb ended:

Looks like mud and crap on the side of the road, and gravel in the middle, typical winter B road :( Avoid metal manhole covers on corners at all costs, even in the dry they can be slippery as hell.

Sounds like pretty minor damage at least, sometimes there's just nothing you can do apart from hold on and hope!

On the plus side eBay have got 20% off everything until 10pm with the code "CUK20" if you need to buy any replacement bits.
