What did you do to your bike today?

I've bought the SS guards for the rad and the oil cooler, and couldn't get the screw out of the side of the rad and the screw from the oil cooler. does my head in :(

My radiator ones came out fine but I did replace them all with stainless bolts when I put the new cover on, the radiator screw for the guard is a lost hope I think until I have a reason to drop the headers and I can get proper access to it to rip it out.

Looks like my belly pan might be a no go until I can be arsed drilling bolts, as usual the Suzuki cheese nuts that you need to remove from the oil cooler mount to fit one of the brackets have just rounded off at the mere sniff of a spanner.

i rounded off the grub screw that holds the radiator cap on the Hornet, ended up using a dremel to make a slice on the head then carefully using a straight screw driver to loosen it

cost me £25 for the dremel (clone) and the grub screw is only a few pence

hey ho!

She's going in for surgery tomorrow:

Replacement down pipes with new gaskets and header bolts etc
new rear disk and pads
new cush drive rubbers
new sprocket carrier bearing
new chain and sprockets

Will get it back for Thursday which is a bike night in honor of the Queens 90th, sponsored by Triumph and a mass rev solute as well (the bit I'm looking forward to).

If turnout is good it can reach 700 bikes :D

I've done the following today;
-Made custom brackets for new indicators
-Installed crush bungs
-Changed the handlebars to wider Renthals.

I haven't, no. But now you suggested it, I'm tempted to do some PS and see how it would look, not today though.

BTW Its an old bathroom carpet, does the job when I need to use the tank for screws and sockets as its all fluffy and keeps them in place. :D

Have you changed the bulb yet IC? The stock bulb in that headlamp isn't great, kinda like a candle.
My friend stuck a hornet front end on his.

I've changed that bulb ages ago, I've a video of how bright it is. But its crap, I'll redo it at some point. Although now since all of the mods which I planned on doing now have been done. I don't think that'll be any time soon... :p

edit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6MhEofTHv8 here's a video, samsung s6 quality...

Got it back! you can tell the downpipes needed doing by the sound of it now....and that the old ones fell apart onto the workshop floor! Power gain is great, it's like ive picked up an extra 30 BHP.

Can't wait to take it to work tomorrow

Pushed it out of the garage..... Tried to start it and nothing. Clicking noise and fl light flashing, hoping its the battery as I left the power on while sorting the chain last night.
So had to come to work in car

Sounds like a dead battery to me.

Got a hill nearby? Or someone to give you a push?

Should be a little over 12v on tick over then go up to about 13.7'ish when you rev the bike a tad, If it does it's obviously charging Ok.
Should be fine starting it up with the Optimizer fitted.

I've ordered a couple of handy extra leads for my Optimizer just now off Amazon. Got a Male to Male connector, 1 with a Cig lighter on one end & 1 with a standard SAE adaptor on one end.
As I keep my connector leads hooked up to the battery I can now use these extra leads to Hook up my Solar charger/Moby charger & other bits & bobs which will be well handy.

Reset the carbs, let it warm up. Good as new :D My rpm issue is officially gone. Whether it was the points or coils is anyone's guess though. Went for 35 miles run, after 30 miles it was still able to get to 6.5k rpm no issues, I'm sure it would go higher too but it just seems mean to do that to a 40 year old bike, i try not to go above 5k :p
