What did you do to your bike today?

which one did you go for mate?

I went for the Akro in the end. It's pricer, but as my bike is still in warranty, and the akro is an offically recommended part, its covered too.

I do have to mention ghmotorcycles for sorting it out for me. The akros are like gold dust for the 701, I ordered from their site, and it turns out they were out of stock with no firm date on new stock. Rather than refund, they called around other dealers to source one for me.

stunning mate, get a video up asap!

(without baffle :p)

Found a lower left hand fairing that actually matches my paint scheme (few and far between) but it was on ebay for £75 :(.....so I made a cheeky offer of £25 and it was accepted! :D

Not yet, I havnt opened up the air box yet. I know the screws are in a bad way as are the jubilee clips on the intake hoses. So I'm going to get replacements before I take the tank off and have a look

edit:

Found this link that explains how the ram air works. I suspect that I have either clogged one of the side hoses or I've dislodged the left hand one when trying to replace the horn

Looking at taking the baffle out, but it looks like it's welded in:

What would be the best way of removing this without damaging the exhaust?

yeah that's the captive nut on the inside, you won't undo that! There'll be a hole in the outer with an allen head bolt which goes into that nut.

Beat me to it :)

Valve clearance time! luckily it was only the exhaust side that needed adjusting.

When changing valve shims its much easier to work on one cam shaft at a time.

Working on 1 cam shaft at a time means you can use cable ties to hold the chain to both sprocket which means you dont have to worry about losing the timing.

With the chain tied to the sprocket and the cam chain tensioner removed there is just enough room to lift the cam shaft out of position and clear of the buckets.

with the cam shaft out of the way its a good idea to stuff rag in any holes that the shim may fall into.
Its easy to remove the bucket with a magnet, some times the shim will stay on the valve.

other times it will stick to the inside of the bucket.

Once the bucket is out it's just a case of inserting the correct size shim and putting every thing back together the way it came out remembering to tighten the journal caps in a criss-cross pattern.

They've made it impossible to get to. The carbon fiber end bit has been riveted on, blocking access to the bolt bit :(. Googling, it seems a few people have drilled the bolt out, but theres no simple way to do it.

I've been out this evening, and whilst on the bike, it's hard to tell the difference. It's a bit deeper, but not massively louder. I'll put some comparison footage up.

Nope, but the dealership who sold it to me said the baffle can be removed, I'll get in touch with them tomorrow to see how they recommend removing it. They even offered to sell me extra baffles cost price, in case I wanted to modify them (do people do that?)

Yeah you can cut down the internal tube to make the baffle shorter and therefore louder.

Bit of a shame it's not easy to remove, the bolt is there and it's obviously removable... hmm.

I fitted the smaller plate too. It makes the end look much better now. I just need the proper seat to finish it off.

There currently isn't a proper tail tidy, but a lot of the back plastic stuff can be removed - so I did that for now.

I'll glue a reflector to the bottom of it tomorrow.
