What did you do to your bike today?

Got some Rizoma 4Ds on. Can't really tell in the light though!

Once I get my blue seat, I'll take some better pictures in daylight :p

I've been in touch with R&G and they'll be selling a tidy for the bike soon, so I'll grab that when available. Once that's sorted, can't really think what else I can do for now!

Beat me to it :)

Valve clearance time! luckily it was only the exhaust side that needed adjusting.

When changing valve shims its much easier to work on one cam shaft at a time.

Working on 1 cam shaft at a time means you can use cable ties to hold the chain to both sprocket which means you dont have to worry about losing the timing.

With the chain tied to the sprocket and the cam chain tensioner removed there is just enough room to lift the cam shaft out of position and clear of the buckets.

with the cam shaft out of the way its a good idea to stuff rag in any holes that the shim may fall into.
Its easy to remove the bucket with a magnet, some times the shim will stay on the valve.

other times it will stick to the inside of the bucket.

Once the bucket is out it's just a case of inserting the correct size shim and putting every thing back together the way it came out remembering to tighten the journal caps in a criss-cross pattern.

Impressive. I wish I had the ability to do my valve clearances myself. It'd save me £600 :(

That's a pretty strong reason to learn right there, £600 is a lot of petrol/shiny bits/post ride beers.

It is. But my bike is my only form of transport and if I screw it up it's not only my expensive bike I've messed up, but also my ability to get anywhere.

I do most of my own work, but electronics and engine I don't have much confidence in. I can guarantee I'd mess something up. I always do, but on things that are inexpensive to replace.

I'm the same in that my bike is my only transport and that's part of the reason I want to be able to do as much as possible as it's not always possible especially in the summer to get anywhere near a garage without a 3 week wait.

I've found with most things that as long as you do some research and take your time it's pretty difficult to get something so wrong that it'll go pop.

It's also a nice sense of achievement, having the hundreds of pounds still in my pocket rather than someone else's is just a nice bonus :D

So I'm not the only one that constantly breaks something whilst trying to fix something else? :p
I have always found when fixing something on a 2nd hand bike I sometimes find things that other people have broken and end up fixing that which then reveals something else etc :p

Fitted this today, took me a whole 20 mins and makes a huge diff. No more headshake for me! :D Went to get some beers after (my excuse) and had the typical 'how much, how fast?' from some chav, then proceeded to go into the shop and keep a keen eye on my bike.

Mmmm, bling

And that's why I don't like buying bikes with power commanders, or too much stuff changed from stock - yeah it may have been fitted perfectly, but it also may have been bodged to hell!

I setup my GoPro's ready to record a 7 hour little tour of Switzerland, France and Italy via Charmonix and the Gd St Bernard pass.

Yeah its only on around 6500 miles. Never thought to take them off lol.

Cheers, Sportsbikeshop sent me a blue one by accident first, was not happy but they sorted it ASAP.

I was going to leave mine on until I broke it in as it had all the rev ranges. Ended up taking them off on day 2 :p

Yeah, tbh may take them off, they are pointless. The HISS sticker is worth leaving on, not that any scumbag pays attention.

Never bothered with asking for a good will gesture as they posted the replacement out before I even sent the blue one back, cracking service tbf.

That silver cap head is really bugging me tbh, I'm gonna get a self colour (black) one.

Took the head off the CRF250R for some valve work... Yes, that does mean removing the seat, fuel tank, subframe, airbox, exhaust, rear shock and carb. Who ever said Honda's aren't well designed? lol.
