What did you do to your bike today?

Spent about 6 hours out and about riding it. Pretty good day, could have been warmer but I won't knock it ;) Picked myself up a new pair of gloves as the old ones were falling apart, as soon as I put them on I wanted them as they are very soft and comfortable inside

Also got me knee down for the first time on the new bike, quite a different position/style compared to the old R6 the difference of wear direction on the knee slider is rather noticable (new on top)

It felt really good tipping it into corners and I was getting more confidence to just throw it about with the front end. By no means an expert but very confidence inspiring, it's not very comfortable to poodle about slowly on but when you open it up and chuck it about it comes alive!

About 5 hours split into a 3 hour run & a 2 hour run, Clean polished & waxed & sealed it & took off the tacky tank guard.

Took the old girl to Shakespeare Raceway on a drag strip. Best fun I've had with this bike, ever!

Wasn't aiming to break any records but the feeling of being able to push your bike to it's limits without worry from the fuzz or traffic is a good feeling man.

Was the knee down on a roundabout? I always find that when getting knee down on roundabouts it wears at the top, like you can see in your pic... whereas on corners/track it wears flat across the face. (that's what i find anyway!)

Yeah it was, could be something to do with it. Is still interesting to compare it to the older generation of R6 though, it really feels like a different bike. The rear end is a lot higher up as are the rear sets and the flat part of the rear seat is a lot wider, felt really stable and almost easy to just lean it over.

Only just started to really use the front brake too after bedding the new disc/pads in and they are quite something now! Looking into booking a service now to keep the stamp book going, what sort of money would I be looking at for an annual service? seems like mostly lubrication to me

Reinforced a replacent tail light unit. It gave up the ghost last week; numberplate location at the side of a road somewhere.

Also today I phoned my Insurance folk and got my new plate registered with them (I got my updated docs back yesterday), figured now was the time to get the plate I'd wanted for two years. Standard style prefix hence cheap and the letters match both the style and brand of the bike

Tomorrow I'll get the plate made up and take a ride out come rain or shine, a week off the road is one week too much.

Fitted the rack & fitted a 12v power point/fag lighter socket so I can plug in my Solar panel charger & moby/satnav etc

Prepped the BMW for collection, Bloke should be here any minute.

Where did you get the Solar panel charger? Could do with one of them until I get my own garage!

Also on the weekend I sorted a little oil leak, fitted some of the Renthal Kevlar grips and some TeckSpec tank grips, going to see how they fair over the StompGrips.

Got them from Amazon put "Solar Battery Charger - 12v ideal for Cars, Caravans, Tents and Boats" in the search bar & buy from Electronicsforall. Got my waterproof socket from amazon as well, It comes with ring connectors so goes straight onto your battery.

Waved my BMW off just now. The good news is it is going to Cambodia as one of the Cambodia Expedition bikes that do Dirt Bike Adventures.

How ****** cool is that, I asked the dude to send me a pic of the bike out there. :D

Hey Malc, Where's the Beema ?

In Cambodia. :D

Chances of that happening. :D

Also the Dude turned up in a Red Mk1 MX5 with a sticky plate on the front

What's the chances of that appening. :p

Just gonna wait for the traffic to die down a bit then it's off out for a bimble on me Viffa. :D

I went to get the RSV out this weekend, only to discover my dear wife had unplugged the maintenance charger at some point with the result that the battery had completely discharged into the charger. Zero volts, and the battery is less than a year old :(

It does appear to be accepting a charge now, but it's undoubtedly knackered and I don't want to take the risk on a bike that needs a 100% healthy battery to start without knackering the sprag clutch. Ho hum, new Motobatt ordered.

I went out for a run this evening after a crap day at work. I came across a Caterham R400 on my favourite B road. As soon as the driver clocked me he was off, I hung with him the whole way. It was epic, one of my best rides to date. Pulled over afterwards and had a chat, jolly nice chap.

Small world, did exactly the same yesterday. My RSV has been standing since April 2012 and hasn't turned a wheel or been started since then. Went to try firing her up yesterday only to find the Datatool charger had been unplugged (although my missus says it wasn't her and I doubt our two year old did it  ). Battery completely dead so I've had it on the charger since yesterday afternoon. Showed 'Absorb' up until last night and then flicked to 'Maintain' so checked the bike and the volts were showing 12.4v. Tried starting her up and after two attempts she eventually fired. Ran for 20 seconds on fast idle and then died. Now she is refusing to start and just turning over. Pretty strong whiff of petrol from the exhausts so I gave up and put it back on charge as all that faffing about had taken it out of her.

I'm also worried about the sprag clutch so I'm going to see how it goes this afternoon and give it one last go. Battery was brand new last February so hoping its not knackered but as you say, not willing to take the chance and screw the sprag so a new YTX14BS may well be in order.
