What did you do to your bike today?

Possibly chain as i did tighten that on Monday after not riding it for 2 weeks, may be why I've noticed it. I'll give that a check, it's done almost 10K miles now and is the factory chain ridden all year round.

What I'll be doing to the bike shortly.... putting the standard cans back on, and taking it to (hopefully) trade in, towards a nice 821 Hyperstrada :D

The misses likes going pillion now, but finds the tiny grab fin on the Hypermotard a bit poor, so it's a good excuse to upgrade.

Heard a pretty dire trade in value so far, and spiel about the HM796 not being popular ( can't find many for sale, so can't be that bad ), so I'll certainly push hard to get more and knock some off the price of the 821 - failing that; I'll sell privately.

Fingers crossed I'll be tooling around on something new (to me) this weekend!

Bike has picked up some fairing vibration on the right hand side at about 4.5K revs. One place is the little bit next to the screen on the right. The other 'buzz' is further down somewhere.

I'll check mirror bolts but failing that it's probably going to be blu tac between the screen and plastic. Once that noise is gone I'll be able to hear and place the other one a lot easier

Are you going from the old aircooled 796 to the 821? If you can't find a hyperstrada I'm pretty sure all the bits (pannier rails etc.) are swappable from the hypermotoard 821. So you could get an SP and add the hyperstrada bits ;) :D

Yeah, the old air cooled 796 :)

There's a few within a reasonable range to me, ~70 miles, so I'm hopefuly I'll find one - if not, I can always wait.

I wouldn't mind an SP HM, but I'm a short arse, so the 'strada was hte better fit for me in the showroom - all the bling extras on the SP will also go amiss on me, as I no longer hoon, and have never/will never (?) track day my bike... I have always preferred the long runs out to Wales etc.

Half installed Rizoma mirrors. nearside bolt hole threaded, raging.

Seems BMW used cheddar cheese aluminium as a material on this bit. Was even tightening to specified torque which I got nowhere near. :(

Having only ridden a couple of 125's and not owning a bike license my mate let me have a go on his XT660 on his new farm last night, my God is that thing quick. It feels like teleporting to 60! I've had him next to my 2L Golf in a race and he's ahead, not by a massive amount to 75 and then I over take but the sensation of speed is insane, I love it! So much so, I'm going to do my A2 in November when I turn 21 and going to buy a bike.

I've been in super cars and they don't even feel as quick to 60. I can't wait for him to get his Superduke!

The XT660 is only 46bhp too, it's not a fast bike! :D Probably (based on my CB400 with 50ish bhp) around 5-6 seconds 0-60, so quicker than a lot of warm hatches but in bike terms, not fast.

Anything with around 100bhp will see off anything but the latest super/hypercars, 0-60 in under 4 seconds. :D

The SV will do 0-60 in around 3.5 and that's the equivalent of a warm hatch in car terms I suppose, still spanks little boy racers though :D

3.5 seconds 0-60 is much faster than a warm hatch but an SV is the car equivalent of a golf GTI I suppose :D A 300bhp Golf R is only 5 secs 0-60, you're looking at 500bhp+ to get under 4 seconds 0-60, so supercar level. Bikes are on another level performance.

Haha yeah I meant in general image rather than performance, as you say you're looking at super/hypercar level to beat even a modest bike 0-60.

His has 56bhp I remember him saying. He's done loads of mods to it. No I've been on a 1000cc ninja and just being on the back was scary!

To be fair the idea of being on the back of a bike scares the crap of me and will never happen. I like being master of my own death thank you :D

I've only ever been on the back on a bike once, years ago before I started riding, I remember hanging on for dear life.

Not in control = no thanks!!!

Ahh ok, then it's around the same power as my CB. It felt fast in 2nd gear for a few months, now I find I'm on the throttle stop in anything but 1st gear :D I rode a 160bhp MT10 a couple of weeks back, now that was fun! :D

Yeah, If I'm going to crash I want it to be my fault! I hate being a passenger in a car as i'm not in control.

Wheelies are great fun in 2nd :D

He took a superduke and the MT10 out for a test ride, he hated the MT10 and put a deposit down on the superduke.

While scrubbing the outside of my windows at home (Fun!...but the prev owners of this house must have never had the windows cleaned!!) I started to wonder if I could get the same result out of the fairings on the bike.....

Turns out it worked! The white pannels are now white again after using a scouring pad on them. Problem is they now make the tank look not as white!

I found night breakers made a world of difference. Dunno what the head lights are like on the pointy but the carb'd SV lights were aweful!

Ordered a pop rivet as a piece of fairing by front wheel is missing one and vibrating. Also ordered a center stand rubber stop as at the moment the stand hits the exhaust.
