What did you do to your bike today?

Chain gets cleaned with WD40 cleaner every few weeks, spray it on let it sit give it a good wipe down with a clean rag.

Edit: New chain on the way anyway not going to risk it, yes I know I should replace the sprockets as well but cash isn't gushing and the ones on there are fine. Just got to hope I can hunt down my chain riveter now!

I've only ever had stiff/seized links when I overcleaned.

I've cleaned my Speed Triple chain twice now (over its 8.5k life) and not had one issue. I normally clean with sdoc chain cleaner where you leave it on for 30 mins and spray off with pressure washer. I'm not particularly impressed with it though, so will be using paraffin next time.

Could also be the lube you're using. Use Castrol racing. 0 rust, no fling if you apply it and leave it overnight & no seizing.

I find Castrol Racing always flings even if I only apply a tiny bit to a hot chain.

Only the horrible waxy stuff doesn't fling for me, but I use 90 weight gear oil anyway which just rinses off.

I fitted a luggage rack to my husky today. The 701 has no official way of attaching stuff to the back, but a guy fabricates his own racks. He only produces them in small batches, so I snapped one up recently.

I had to drill the fairings, so was a bit nervous, but it all ended up ok :D

18 months of ownership - 7,500 miles. 4 track days, 3 trips to Germany and back, 35+ 8 minute laps of the ring. Simply stunning.

For all the people who seem to think Aprilia's are unreliable, all that has gone wrong is a rear ABS sensor which was replaced under warranty free of charge. My BMW S1000RR did the same number of miles and had many, many more problems. The only bike i would think to replace her with is a Ducati 1299s or 1199R, but i would still keep the Ape' for track either way.

I will be spending some money on her over the winter and tarting her up a bit more :)

Nice  just don't go sticking an ugly top box on it, that would ruin the bike! :D

Looks slow.... ; P
What you thinking of doing to her over the winter?

Yeah, I got out dragged by a 125 the other day ;p

It's a needs a valve service which is about £500, new brake pads and want to maybe get it painted and fit a Brembo 19RCS, get the exhaust shortened and a few other bits :D

Fitted my new chain. Planning on trying lubing it with a bottle of scottoiler oil and a paintbrush see if that's any better. Tried to fit an R&G exhaust hanger but as the fixing point on my exhaust isn't a moveable band there was no chance, I think whoever first fitted a new exhaust didn't cut the original pipe short enough so I'm going to take another 10mm off then it should all line up nicely.

Do you have a Scottoiler installed as well then?

Nope I've got one sat in the shed I picked up second hand which is why I've got a bottle of the oil but I've never bothered installing it as I'll lose most of the space under my seat with the res and it'll get bashed about by my disk lock.

Ah ok, Scottoiler oil isn't that sticky/thick, so I wouldn't use it as lube on its own really. Get some decent stuff like Castrol racing lube or Motul stuff is supposed to be good.
