What did you do to your bike today?

Changed the plate for a plain one, not sure what 'big jocks' was all about on the old one.

Then quick wash, polish and sealant on the paint.

I'm going to guess the guys nickname was big jock but he missed the apostrophe.
I've got my nickname at the bottom of my plate much much smaller than that though.

Replaced the brake pads.

The fronts were OK, but I swapped them for new EBCs anyway...

The rears, not so much!

Curiously the braking power seems very poor, front and back. Not spongy, there's decent pressure, it just doesn't stop as well as it did before. Hoping it's a bedding in thing...!

Next is to fit the HEL braided brake lines and bleed the brakes in the process.

Yeah new pads on old disks will need to bed into the shape of the disc, I think they recommend after bedding them in for a few hundred miles, you do several heat cycles (stopping from 60mph) to finish the bedding in process.

SV Brakes are bad, you just need to get use to them and take that into an account. GSXR calipers with new discs would be a good upgrade, or if you were going for it, a GSXR front end swap. But it costs £££'s

Ahh in that case you cant polish a terd.

Tbh that's the view on many forums, but quite frankly you can lift the rear end with the stock front brakes so they're hardly horriffic ;-)

Yes, yes you can  :o

They may not be the latest, greatest all singing all dancing setup but clean, well bled and with decent pads they're more than good enough for the bike they're on.

Spent some time spraying the engine casing and frame. Has made it look so much better.

Old pic for refference:

Was in a rush to get it all back together and on the road to cure the paint so didnt take any pics while fairing was off.

Do you know whenever the SV1000 brakes fit on the SV650? They're so much better, than the ones on 650...

Talking again of brakes, after doing the pads I replaced the brake fluid (which was looking rather brown), fitted braided hoses front and rear, then bled them.

My far the worst part was bleeding, for some reason it seemed to take ages and ages to get all the air out. I've got a vacuum kit but still, pita.

Mmm, nice clean fluid. Next on the list, spark plugs. I hear the rear one can be a bit tricky...
