What did you do to your bike today?

Been doing my final prep work on the trailer and the Beamish Suzuki.
I'm out for the first time on it Sunday afternoon.
Having finally found somewhere to practice.
The land owner of a well used trial venue, has kindly said I can come up and use the land.
Its also the practice ground of the trials legend Mick Andrews, who lives nearby.
excited and nervous, should be a great afternoon on this 37 year old beauty

That's a beauty! What condition did you buy it in?

Pretty much as is, I just finished it off, different bars/levers and throttle, mudguards, shocks, Reed valves being the main stuff I replaced

Got a Stator coming. The bike doesnt feel safe to ride now. Speedo is intermittent, indicators dont work and there have been times the sparks havnt been passed enough charge. Might as well do an oil and filter change at the same time

think thers something dying in the bike.

not starting first time any more, and the headlights definitly change brightness when reving.

checked the battery 12.3v when off, 14.5v when at 5k rpm.

0 AC voltage across the terminals though.

so not sure if the reg rec is dying or not.

Changed my brake pads, my SBS ones have been feeling horrendous lately, despite having plenty of tread left, I will give them a sand down and keep them as track spares or something, plus I wanted to give some Bendix pads a try, so far they feel good! :)

Also gave the pistons etc a clean, impressed with how decent a condition they are in considering its a daily and I've not looked at them since before winter....

Fully faired SV  Nioce mate.

What braided lines did you get for your SV? Much difference from stock?

I got HEL lines from eBay. They seem well constructed. Hard to say if it made any difference as I changed the pads and fluid at the same time, but the brakes are a fair bit better than before (whilst still just being SV brakes!).

Give it a full deep clean, took almost 2 hours!

After the Swiss tour over the weekend where it peed it down on Saturday it was filthy in every nook and cranny.

What pads did you get? I was thinking about EBC HH, but apparently they destroy the discs far quicker than other pads?

Bike do you ride? Those are some hefty brakes!

You do not need HH for your bike my zzr1200 are on normal but the zx12r I owned most defiantly needed them different animal and the A1 model has **** fronts, HH are heavy going on discs I tried a set on the zzr and needed heat inside before any use so went back to standard.

Also depends on your riding of course.

Mine came with OEM pads fitted when I got it which I stuck 10k miles on then I switched to Brembo Street sintered up front and EBC organic on the back.

I wouldn't say the Brembos were night and day better but they are an improvement and ordered from Italy cost me no more than OEM would have.

I got EBC HH on my SV650S. Tbh not that impressed, I should have gone for OEM. Can't really be bothered to change back now but wouldn't do again. They don't feel that great and frankly stopping power feels no different.

You need heat before any real difference and a sv650 is not heavy or quick so will feel rubbish unless you work the bike.
