What did you do to your bike today?

Then either the borders weren't the correct size or the tester just guessed and failed it. There's no size stated in the MOT guidelines or the registration regulations.

Managed to fit almost everything, missed my bed, Tv and Desktop PC. :p

Did a 460miles ride today, stopping for petrol only

mesure the distance between the nut and footpeg? You need a reference point that's level on either side. So some nut or footpeg should do.

What? OR you could just measure the center of the nut to the front part of the adjustment slide (the bit the axle moves back and forth in the swing arm)

Slap it in use the adjustment markers, it's what they're there for

This is assuming your bike isn't one that suffers from adjustment markers being drawn on by a blind man with no arms.

None of them are very accurate and they don't even use a vernier scale so it's partly guess work when you are between the marks anyway. Once the alignment properly set up (e.g. using string, or measuring from the swingarm pivot) then you only need to ensure you turn both adjusters the same amount each time to keep the wheel straight.

Indeed.

The markers on the GSX650F are on a plate which moves when you tighten anything thus rendering it useless haha.

I suppose I've been spoilt there was a guy that made aftermarket plates to within the tolerance of a fag paper for the SV so mine are spot on.

I want to replace my headlight bulb (H7 - 55W) with something decent, better than the candle i've currently got :p

I want a straight swap (no HIDs, LED kits etc), temperature around 4000-4500K (not yellow and not blue, just nice and white).

Any suggestions?

I've a cheap ebay LED bulb, 6000k. Its much brighter than the stock one and or Osram bulbs. :p

Replaced the reg/rec in hope of it fixing my speedo issues. I hasnt fixed it right away which is pointing me towards the battery as the indicators are now pot luck if they work...however if I leave the lights off for 10 secs and then try again they work...hence battery testing up next.

On another note the bike has just broken 60K miles!

If your reg/rec was failing/failed then it'll have goosed the battery as well.

The battery never missed a beat and I've never had problems starting the bike - which is where I would has assumed the signs would start for a borked battery.

I was going to run it without the lights on for a bit to see if that helps get the battery charged up or not, but not with the weather the way it is at the moment

On more investigation I've found that the 3 cables that feed to the reg/rec from the alternator are only 6 volts a piece. I've only found one post that recons they should be about 20 volts each. Traced it down to where the feed joins the loom and it's the same there....

Looks like it's going to be at least a new stator

Typically, the past 3 times ive got new tyres, it's rained. Makes for a fun first ride on them..
MOT passed, no problems :) and taxed it. Insurance is soon too.
