What did you do to your bike today?

It's in ****ing Belfast. :p

Flights out there are £10 one way from Gatwick but it'd be a stopover on the way back due to either a short ferry and long 8 hour ride, or long ferry and shorter 5-6 hour ride.

I bought a new car from Belfast a few weeks ago. Got an early flight from City Airport with FlyBe and then took a ferry from Belfast to Cairnryan and drove back down all in the same day. I looked into the longer ferry but it started to get more expensive that way.

If you do get the ferry to Cairnryan then there are some brilliant roads to ride until you eventually pick up the A1. A712 in particular would be fantastic for a bike.

Oh it's definitely doable, just have to factor in the extra cost. I've sent him a message about the service history, as it's on 11,500 miles and the 'big' service which includes valve checks is due at 12,000 miles and that's £400 so if if's not had that done it'd need that doing as soon as I get home with it! Could be a bargaining tool, but I'd want a fair bit off if hasn't had it done.

Edit: it's had the 12k service just done, brand new metzler tyres too.

Metzlers are great tyres for that bike :)

yeah I'm pretty sure looking at the pics they are the roadtec Z8 interacts, so with it having just been serviced, new tyres, and on UK plates it would need no money spending on it, which is good... :D

Washed it, actually is the first time I wash my bike..
The mileage I did on the last 7 days is the same I did over the last 15 months, it had 1900 miles before my trip and now it has 3820 miles
also re applied ACF50
cleaned and lubed the chain

P.S.: I know the nc500 photos... soon :D

Changed the stator and oil and filter. A bolt sheered in the engine casing getting the alternator case off, but luckily I have a friend who has sorted most of it out for me now. Just needs to have a tap put through it to clear the last of the bolt

She has also broken the 60K mark now!

Took the front wheel to my local garage yesterday to check out why it was losing pressure, turns out there's some really bad internal corrosion around the valve. They're going to have a go at patching it up but I might have to look for a replacement :(. It's another thing on the list that Aprilia have clearly cut corners on to keep costs down, and I'm rapidly losing faith in it being viable for a long-distance tour.

On a not-entirely-unrelated note, next week I may be taking a look at a new bike :)

Took off faulty heated grips, it was a cheap kit anyways... and I did a R6 Throttle tube mod to my SV. :D I highly recommend it, after this mod I think my poor wrist will get some rest now. :p

Pulled one of the worst parts of the bike off. The swingarm is structurally sound but badly corroded. After a couple of hours of wire brushing, rust removing and swearing it's a step closer to being able to be painted. Needs a lot more work though.

25 year old bike that had been used almost exclusively as a winter hack by its previous 19 owners.

Here are the rims before and after

Indicators work when engine isnt running but don't (mostly) when the engine is running. Any ideas?

Guesses on my part are an earth or one of the links in the wires, maybe even the relay, but I thought I'd ask here as well while I check them out - in case I can't find the issue

I'd hazard that the shock is probably useless too

After a clean it's in surprisingly good condition. It's almost certainly not the original, is hazard a guess at about 5yrs old. Definitely some life left in it yet.

The new rims aren't the originals cleaned up. The originals were corroded beyond repair. I bought a set of wheels off a breaking bike. They were shoddy but structurally sound and cleaned up pretty well.

Swingarm primed with etch primer:

Painting tomorrow if the weather holds out.

Update: After cleaning the contacts on the indicator relay they are now working with the engine on. However during test ride I found they only work if the revs are 3K or below... Is this a sign that a new relay is required?

Edit: looking at the parts on ebay etc, none of them look like the one I have on the bike! I'm guessing this must be a cheapy pattern part
