What did you do to your bike today?

Can you post the link here? I'll give it a go and see how it sounds, hopefully its not as loud as mine is...

Off to get some petrol from the station down the road but I feel I may be a while ;)

Will update with how good/crap it sounds when I'm back.

Copper grease is designed to stop things seizing, not for lubricating moving parts, your wheel bearings move along the axle, and you wont want copper grease in those, just use normal grease.

The bearings don't actually move on the axle though, apart from the inner face sliding through, it then sits on the axle, not moving. The outer face sits in the wheel, moving. So there's nothing moving on the axle once the wheel is bolted in.

I was watching a fastbikes video last night where the guy is getting stuff fitted at JHS racing (the same blokes who built the supertwin TT race bikes) and they used copper grease on the front axle, so... :p

15:10s in, that's copper grease going on the front axle.

Countless google searches will disagree, it will work I'm not disagreeing, its just not its intended purpose, you wont catch me putting copper grease anywhere near it could get into bearings.
Its designed to be used on bolt threads.

Replaced all the headlight bulbs.

Osram Nightbreaker low and high
Osram Cool Blue Intense side/position

They're all the same colour temperature which is between 4000k and 4500k which is nice and white, not the blue side or the yellow side, just a nice white. So much brighter than OEM. Why do they insist putting **** bulbs in at the factory. I know things are down to cost, but we're talking £20..

I can't wait to get a naked bike...Clocks out, "cockpit surround" out, use psychic powers to replace bulbs whilst still scratching up your hands. Didn't take long at all, but was more of a pain that one would hope.

Grease it for sure, use whatever is specified/suitable replacement.

I use the BMW specific grease for alloy material. Sticks like nothing else and you get quite a fair amount of coverage for your money.

I coat the dust/ingress covers/exposed surfaces on the bearings with a suitable bearing grease however.

Sure, it's a ball ache to get the specified stuff, and it sometimes costs more. But for the amount of times you will likely use it the peace of mind is worthwhile!

Well they are finally on :D, slight delay due to getting a quick shifter fitted as well lol

Unfortunately the weather is not looking good this weekend but will go out for a run later to bed the tyres & brakes in and then off to Newquay on Monday hopefully.

That's a thing of beauty Chris!

Well it's certainly louder than my Scorpion, not antisocially so at lower revs so my neighbours won't be lighting the torches and getting their pitch forks when I go to work but get up in the revs and it really makes itself noticed.
It's a fair bit deeper as well very nice throaty growl.

Almost impossible to get any pops and bangs out of it though at places I normally would which surprised me although I also fitted a TRE mod that I picked up for pennies so thought I'd give it a go so that may have affected that.

All round it definitely put a big grin on my face.

$26..what is it made of, imitation cardboard stainless steel? :D

It's noticeably heavier than the CF one it's replaced so possibly pig iron of some sort :p

Ahh, thought you might have done that, I doubt I'll be fitting a power commander at any point so need a standalone one :)

There's a nice Tuono black dream just come up on ebay for a decent price, good nick and low milaege too...

It's in ****ing Belfast. :p

Flights out there are £10 one way from Gatwick but it'd be a stopover on the way back due to either a short ferry and long 8 hour ride, or long ferry and shorter 5-6 hour ride.

Oh my, they look lovely.

Did your bike have cast magnesium wheels before? if so i'd be interested to hear if you can feel the difference.

There'll be a huge weight difference, correct me if I'm wrong chris but his bike had the standard RSV cast alloy wheels, 4.9kg and 7.5kg vs BST carbons (from rsvr.net, might be out of date) at 2.4kg and 3.8kg. Over 6kg weight saving

The forged alloy wheels on the factory models are 3.4kg and 5kg, so lighter than the cast wheels but nowhere near the BST's.

Yes they were the cast wheels so the heaviest Aprilia ever made so a nice 6kg saving :D and the way the weight is centralised in the hub instead of the rim like the cast wheels
