What did you do to your bike today?

Not tried the WD40 chain wax, this was their chain lube, at first I thought I'd put too much etc or when too cold... but frankly since using the castrol racing stuff, I ain't going back, that stuff literally doesn't fling at all so I won't change a working recipe :)

Just recently changed chain and sprocket, DID chain came with some weird white wax stuff, do you guys leave that on? What is it?

It's just the packaging grease to stop it rusting while it's sat on a shelf somewhere. I normally give it a quick wipe with some cleaner once it's on then apply my normal lube.

I hate chain wax. It gets grit all over the chain and ends up making a lovely abrasive paste if you don't clean it regularly.

Yup. Will never go back to wax after using Wurth dry chain lube. Horrible stuff.

Gets so many good reviews. Don't know if they're maybe people who only ride when it's dry, or people who ride twice a year, or not at all.

Yup. I used it for about a year after getting my bike and it was terrible. Not used anything else but Castrol since and my chain is fine. A bit gutted I didn't use it to begin with because using that wax really damaged my chain in its first few months of wet/winter riding.

I hate chain lube full stop. Scottoiler is my friend (or equivalent- they all do basically the same job). 1000 mile chain adjustments and 20,000+ mile chain life and far less uneven chain stretch make it a no brainer IMHO.

Also much easier to clean the bike as there's no sticky additives.

Ordered Showa forks for my Hornet

Hopefully the clamps are the right size on my bike, should be fine. Seller says they will cover return postage though, so I can always return without much bother.

Nah, just a bit of fun, something to practice stuff on ;). Plus it's unsellable at the moment, or it'd go for very little due to broken fork, if I did need/want to sell. At least with decent forks it's a fully working bike.

I have my car for winter commuting now :p

I was thinking of having the Hornet for the bad days, especially if it snows this year or gets badly icy and there's risk of dropping it, but I've got to a point where I kinda need a car now so just bought something cheap.

Whatever :p

If the bike made a big difference to time I definitely would just take the Hornet through the bad days in winter, especially if it meant I could get up later, but there's no traffic on my commute.

Ahh, you lucky git :(

It's not this bad going home everyday, but it's not far off. And getting to work there's about 3-4 miles of solid not moving traffic, that's in a 16 mile commute.

Loads of roadworks which has caused it, they're making a section of the A21 into dual carriageway - will be great once it's done but in the meantime traffic is crap. The blokes who drive into work the same route have resorted to find tiny little back road and singletrack roads to avoid the traffic!
