What did you do to your bike today?

It's now 1 big chicken strip :D

Right side (Front and Rear) no chicken strips as far, as I can see and on the left there's a 1mm strip if not less...

I'm still gaining confidence on left side, so they'll stay on there till next season I think.

Left side chicken strip is 4mm. :p I'm actually that sad and measured it...

Tried to fit a relay to power my satnav and USB ports on the Tuono. Spend ages trying to figure out why it wasn't switching, it was passing power through no issues.

Turns out a 24v relay needs the full 24v to actuate the coil in order to switch. Maplin neckbeard geek who served me needs to increase his geek level, I asked him twice 'will this be fine to use on a 12v circuit.

Both ;) that's the point of a relay - it takes switched live and battery live but only supplies power when the switched live is on (ignition on).

Tested it on my CB400 which has a relay fitted for ages, and took it apart, the little arm isn't moving when it's powered.

Hornet spark plugs changed (tank had to come off, so a bit of pain), then started it up! Started within a few seconds (2nd try), sounds perfect. Idle is a little low, but not bad, will adjust that later.

Forks and brakes next.

7x5 plate ordered. No tail tidy for this bike, so I'll just be cutting away some of the tail and remove the reflector at back.

Will be ordering SP Engineering Moto GP stubby exhaust later, all being well in terms of brakes and forks.

Having the metzeler m7rr tyres fitted, it's bloody cold outside too, I've got a Marino wool Base Layer, 2 t-shirts and the thermal lining in and I'm still cold.

It's a Honda, of course it started up! :D

And, I'm slightly envious of that garage, lots of room for bikes! :D

I finished off fitting the relay for satnav/USB power under the pillion seat (used part of a gopro 3M tape sticky pad) and ran the tomtom cable up under the tank (remove seat & 2 carbon bits, undo 2 tank bolts and lift up, nothing needs disconnecting - a 5 minute job to get under the tank :p) up to the handlebars. Just using the U ring temporarily for the moment, will order a handlebar clamp RAM mount ball for it.

I'll add a dual USB port over winter, will be a 10 minute job now the relay wiring is in there, just a case of routing the cable, mounting it and attaching the live and earth.

:D I was surprised actually. A few years ago I left it for 6 months while I travelled, got back and burnt through a whole battery charge trying to start it, eventually got it going when my Dad applied an old trick of putting your hand over the exhaust to build up a little pressure, then releasing.

This time, 2 presses of the button and it was fine. I guess that's because I did it properly this time - new sparks, oil, etc.

So today in total, in no particular order:

New battery in (put the acid in last night and charged overnight)

Tank off completely to replace all sparks

Scottoiler off (which means rear wheel off)

Adjust chain

Front and back wheel axle lube, clean, check, etc.

Chain clean and lube

Oil and filter change

Front brakes, both sides, new seals, pads, thorough slider pin clean with drill and full bleed. Finally got to install and use the new caliper I bought off eBay, old one is ruined (very stuck slider pin + silly mistake ruined it)

Finished oil change (started up, let it rest, topped up).

New forks on.

To come:

Adjust idle

Might give the back brake a clean

New exhaust: http://www.spengineering.co.uk/hond...ound-moto-gp-stubby-carbon-fibre-exhaust.html. Apparently it rattles windows idling with this one :p. I'm going full loud chavfest on this bike.

Pump tyres

Clean the left side of the swingarm / stand area. Scottoiler made it filthy. Need to drench it in something and pressure wash off. It's greasetown back there.

Cut down tail, put 7x5 plate on, remove reflector

Wish I had been able to get it going for summer. I did start at the beginning of summer, but the fork got messed up when changing seals, which meant a whole lot of CBA for a few months.

Oh well. Next summer :)

Clutch fluid needs done :P

MoT expired this week. With the weather turning, I've no desire to ride so I think for the first time in about 20 years, I'll be hibernating the Italian beastie until the Spring.
