Great bikes though, can pick one up for under £4k and thats a 2014 with ABS, ive got a limit of £4k and I'm not going over.

A 2008/9 R model Tuono will be a far better machine than that.

It's an MT07 Moto cage version, with an 'interesting' paint scheme

Part of the reason i went for a Tuono was that nothing else out there gave the same value for the money, it is a hell of a lot of bike for the money!

V4 definitely not.

The shiver/Dorsoduro (same 750cc engine) will vibrate a little but shouldn't be any worse than other v-twins. I was looking at a shiver as my first bike, they're a little down on power though (95bhp I think). Gen 2 Tuono's don't vibrate much either.

If you want that v-twin 'kick' of torque you'll have to put up with some vibrations.

Seen a nice cb1000r for £4500 but i reckon i can get them down to £4k but im tempted to sack off the 1000cc idea and get the MT-07/09!

Yeah maybe not the MT-07, not for lack of power but more size, it's quite a small bike. MT-09's aren't that comfy either TBH, seat like a plank. And they're more like £5k upwards than £4k. And not forgetting a twitchy throttle on the early models.

Yup - unless I can get away in May/June/July time, maybe to Wales or somewhere for a week.

With a nice quiet helmet and some music (and the enforced stops every 2 hours for fuel!) I reckon long days on the motorway will be easy. After riding a 400cc at 130kph at 9000 rpm for a few hours the Tuono is bliss in comparison!!

5000 rpm is 80mph indicated, actual speed about 77mph.
