What did you do to your bike today?

Last Soton bike meet of the year! 650 bikes turned up nearly all bringing food to give to a local food bank.

Do you even work?

I work 60% officially.

On the days I do work I can just go for a 2 hour lunch break up the mountains which are only 12-15 minutes away. Let's call that my replacement for having no commute.

If I had to work during the only time the weather is nice I'd go mad. I can't imagine starting work when it's dark and leaving work when it's dark, instead of spending 3 hours skiing and then catching up with work between 7-9PM.

I've engineered my life to be this way and I love it!

As of next week it'll be light when I go to work (barely) at 7am ish, and pitch black when I leave work at 5:30pm. Winter sucks.
 
I'm a technical architect.

My only problem with work is that the British public voted to completely decimate the UK economy, and since I earn in GBP I have had a 20% pay cut :(
 
Abandoned it at the side of the road after it broke down on the way home from work, it's either snapped a throttle cable or the "pull" cable has jumped off the throttle pulley on the carbs, either way there was no way I was going to push 240kg's of metal 5 miles home, went back for it a couple of hours later with my mates car 'n' trailer & just gotten home.
 
Had a nice ride in the evening and stopped by the coast to watch the sunset. Then the mist and fog rose incredibly quickly! Made for an interesting ride back, but at least it all disappeared a couple of miles inland.

Fixed it today, took 10 mins & 5 of those where spent taking the tank off & putting it back on again, it was the push cable which had worked loose & jumped out the back of the retaining bracket when I hit a bump, if it wasn't for the god awful standard tool kits el cheapo shoddy 10mm spanner I could've fixed it at the side of the road in no time at all.
 
Thanks. That's a very easy job. Just need that special measuring thing!

Looks like I can get them for about £40 which will probably be cheaper than paying the shop to do it.

Saying that, it seems like a massive pain having the tank off and hooking it up with a longer hose etc. :p.

I balanced the carbs on my 1997 Blade

Not sure on the setup on your bike but with the blade you balance them to carb 3 which has a vacuum connection for the fuel tank.

I found that you can use an old washing machine hose as an extension for the fuel line, and because mine fuel needs a vacuum I just hooked up the vacuum pipe to the tank and sucked on it then clamped it, but you can gravity feed it
 
Thanks. That does look similar, I think you balance to 2 on the Hornet, not sure.

Mine needs a vacuum as well, so will keep that trick in mind :)

Only thing I found was when I first did it I just hooked up the rubber hose to the vacuum feed nipple and it gave a poor reading on the gauge, just bounces like crazy

all the other three where on those copper pipes, I removed the nipple and screwed the pipe in instead so you get a better reading

On the carb sync kit I bought you have to cut the pipes and fit a tap to each one that you tighten down a little to stop the needle bouncing to much.

Once you have it setup its just a matter for following the manual.

Mine has an idle screw that you set the 1100 +-100 then adjust each carb and then adjust the idle when it goes to high or to low.

Wasn't as painful as I thought and makes a massive difference
