What did you do to your bike today?

Fitted the replacement coil pack, put it all back together again, had a 40 min test ride and....

She's back to full health!!! :D

*I think/hope :o:p Didn't have any issues in the 40 min ride, gonna ride to work tomorrow on it so it gets a decent 45 min run out.

If it was the coil that was the problem, it's a Bosch part, so Aprilia reliability hasn't faulted me yet :p

Of course the big vibratey v-twin italian engine may have had something to do with it!

Put a new battery in last night and left the bike to run for about 20 minutes to make sure there was no leaks around the stator area.

Just need to wire up my new indicators and put it all back together now :)

Adjusted the clutch lever and cable, sits closer to the bar now. Next thing is some softer grips, the standard ones are so thin, it feels like you're just holding metal bars after a while.

Took my bike for service/warranty check, it had the starter switchgear replaced, apparently the starter button was sticking/stiff.

They gave me the R1200GS TE for the day, I spent most of the morning and part of the afternoon riding it, did around 180 miles, usually I take a bike I've not ridden before around tight country lanes, B and A roads and a bit of motorway to see how it feels. I did like it, was very comfy, first time I've ridden a bike with a boxer engine/shaft drive/telelever suspension, perfect touring tool.

Another 10 years and I can see myself on one, but not yet. My back can just about put up with the S1000RR for now.

Looking good edd1e. Not going to mention the chicken strips (dammit) more concerned about that antiquated tyre warmer against the wall, must be a bugger carting that around to trackdays... :p

They're so good - very refined over the years. Another 10 years and I think I'll end up on one too but I just worried that by that point I won't want to go long distances across Europe for a week or longer!

If I didn't tour any longer I think I'd drop down to an R Nine T or similar - I keep looking at them even now as a possible second bike. My brother's just about to take delivery of a Street Twin, and I really enjoyed it when we took it out for a test. He's 12 years older than me, so I think I'm possibly seeing my future in what he does...

Replaced the fork seal on the CB400 and gave it a covering of elbow grease to clean it off a bit.

On the tuono, adjusted the gear lever up one spline, replaced the oil catch tube on the air box, rubbed down the brake discs (after checking they're not warped, which they aren't), adjusted the chain (need a new one, I'll order a DID gold and black xring at the end of the month) and then gave it a little run out for 40 minutes on the little fuel i had left on the tank.

Spent the best part of 5 hours replacing the down pipes & collector box on my Bandit 12 after it fell apart due to a dose of uncle Suzuki's box rot, not a good way to spend your Sunday afternoon when you don't have a garage to work in so wind up lying on your back on the drive in the cold.

still atleast it didn't rain, just bloody windy. :D
