What did you do to your bike today?

Fitted the pattern headlight which needed a bit of chopping at the back to get all the cables in.

Started putting the seat cover and seat foam together but I'm sure I'll make a mess of it so I'll find someone to do the stapling properly :)

Replaced the headstock bearings today.
Couldn't see any wear on the old ones but the notch has now gone so im happy.
The old ones were ball bearings and looked really cheap, the new ones are rollers so don't know if that will have any affect on the way the steering feels.

That isn't a go faster stripe by the way, its electrical tape holding the handlebar.

Fitted new EBC pads and discs to the front, tried the cheap Chinese discs a couple of months ago and they were warped on arrival so decided to splash out the extra £60 on EBC stuff.

For anyone else replacing their discs I recommend grabbing a cheap set of taps to clear the thread of any old loctite/oxidation before fitting the new discs, the threads in some of the holes on mine were so full of crap you couldn't turn the bolts all the way in by hand.

I changed the colour of my ST RS!!!

I also changed it from an RS model, down to an R :D

Sadly, the RS sprung a leak:

Not sure if you can make it out, but there's a pool of oil around the bolt - there's also a fair amount of oily residue around the area - in retrospect, it has been like this for over a month; I (stupidly) assumed it was overflow mixing with the Scottoiler 365 spray I use. The bike has also been really stinky at the end of a ride, I assumed (again, stupidly) it may have just been leaf litter collected in the bottom fairing - I guess it was actually burning oil!

Called the Dealership in Swindon and they had be pop over, they slackened off the bolt(s) and did them back up again - then gave it a bit of a clean. Sadly, upon returning to work, the leak was worse:

Did a bit of forum trawling, and found a fair few posts about the 765 engine springing oil and coolant leaks, bit of a shame, as she's been brilliant so far.

Oh well, just waiting to hear from the dealership, hopefully it'll all be sorted under warranty.

So that's both bikes that I'm interested in next year having oil leaking problems. I thought the 765 platform was clear of the early teething issues as it's not that new now.

Sadly, it would seem not :( I'm hoping that the dealership don't try palming the blame onto me, for fitting the engine case protectors. I can't see how they could, they are official parts fitted in the exact manner the Triumph guide states; but I typically look at worst case scenarios first!

Took the original exhaust off and tried the Mivv. There's not a lot to it - very light but it sounded a little tinny and then a bit too much boom as the revs climb. It would be a bit much when touring. So the Akrapovic gets the nod again for now.

It was only for the photo :) but fair point.

I don't give two hoots about the stock exhaust, and the Mivv needs a very light sand and a respray before going on the Bay. Those are the justifications that I quickly thought of this morning when typing this reply :D

Bike was running pretty poorly, so took the carbs off and had a look the bowls and found this:

It's been identified by others as rust. Cleared that stuff out, cleared a few of the jets that were blocked, and the bike's running quite a lot better now!
