What did you do to your bike today?

Rear caliper binding slightly.

Only issue, apart from an advisory on the rear tyre, annoyingly.

Caliper rebuild kit is here, along with blue fairing bolts and brake pads :)

Also, got a little 500kg bike lift turned up today, so will get that sorted over the weekend!

The fairing bolts aren't those crap anodized ones are they? Woeful things. Broke so many off it's unreal.

2013 zx636.
Fitted new ASV short levers
Fitted r&g chain adjusters with extended bobbins
Fitted r&g bobbins
Fitted carbon fiber heel guards
Fitted carbon fiber rear fender
Fitted carbon fiber chain guard
Fitted rear seat cowl.

Unfortunately I was a rear ended in the car last week and am still aching quite a bit so for now I just get to look at the bike and look and the nice weather we've been having

Yup, blue anodized type. All went in ok so far!

I stripped and rebuilt the caliper with new seals, emptied, refilled and bled the system and it passed, just an advisory on the rear tyre.

I will sort that out asap.

Been on a bit of a ride out today and really feeling more at home on a bike and getting used to it.

Bike is hitting 70 on the flat happily and can just about hit 75 if I wring it's neck and get behind the screen.

I also made some front wheel downlights as DRL from LED strip, and hooked it up to run with the sidelight bulb.

I am not happy with the headlight bulbs. The LED is not doing enough sadly, so will swap the dipped bulb to a halogen.

I may go get some of the higher power bulbs if they do not throw enough light.

If it's not too late, make sure you put some copper grease on the bolts to prevent seizing. It cannot be overstated how crap those bolts can be. They get brittle over time and rot in place. Unless you got a good set (unlikely unfortunately) you will become very familiar with EZ-Out and thread tapping.

SV650S; my first ride out in quite a while, and it was a really good one, mentally more than anything. I fancied a ride out because of the weather so messaged a (petrol-headed) mate; told him of a cafe called Loomies up the A32 from Portsmouth. I've ridden past Loomies a few times and have heard its a good biker meet but have never been to a meet there before. Anywho, we had a ride up (him in his Mini countryman JCW) and when we arrived the car park was absolutely rammed with bikes, as was the lay-by outside the cafe.

I mentioned in the 'What did you do to your car today?' thread in the main motors forum, that on Thursday I sold the 340i. Obviously I was gutted on Thursday but today when i was out on the bike I actually felt quite content. I did all i wanted to do in the car, I have great memories of it, but it was undoubtedly the right decision.

I use the bike for commuting most days and have very much fallen out of love with it over the past 18 months or so, but as i say, today it was so nice to be out on it. Nevertheless, I'm selling it in a few months and buying something new :p

My first ever go on a bike was a Honda QR50 many moons ago. I took the CRF for a spin this evening and all those memories came flooding back. It’s surprisingly similar. You never forget your first ride! :D

Small Honda. Cant beat them :D
I must say I thought of you when looking at bikes. I’ve seen your success with the Chinese marques and I considered getting one of those instead for a significant discount. However, thats a 2008 bike, 11 years old and it still looks near showroom condition. I convinced the wife on the basis of an investment - it’ll do for the grandkids too :D

It will outlive us all!!

Having a play with this CBR I have now, and its a world apart in terms of quality. Jap all the way for me now.

I think you made the right decision :)
