What did you do to your bike today?

Oil & Filter change today was I right messy affair, The bike has 2 oil pumps which lifts the oil back up into the frame, The dipstick is just behind the headstock nut just behind the bars & when the caps off you can see the oil being squirted back into the reservoir at the top of the frame.
Anyways there is a small bolt just below the radiator & just above the downpipes that you have to take out to get the oil from the top of the frame & of course this flys out at first but then goes to a dribble that covers the downpipes no matter how much rag you use. Once that mess is everywhere you then go half way up the right side of the engine to remove the oil filter cover which then leaks oil all down that side of the engine as well. :p
Lastly you take out the sump plug which is the easy part, Checked for chunks of metal but there was nowt but a bit of swarf on the magnet so all cleaned up & put back together. Then you have to put a litre of oil in & prime it then run it then check/run/check/run  + = :p
Finally got it Bang on the line & then went for a well deserved spin.
Run out of things to do now so I best go crash it like Stuman so I have summit to do. :D

I got an engineer (ah the engineer thread in GD made me smile) at work to get a fairing bolt out as the previous owner must have had a pet gorilla as I could not shift it. In the end he had to drill into the bolt and use a proper extraction tool. The first tool he used snapped as the bolt was in so tight.

Oil and filter change this weekend and a wash now the hose pipe ban has been lifted.

Sandblasted the front headlight yoke and dropped it off the to powdercoaters last week. Collected it yesterday all new and shiny :) It was badly stone chipped before.

Fitted my new clear indicator lenses and new high powered headlight bulb today too.
Them indicators make a massive difference, amber is so old now, looks bad, need to get my fronts done as well! What headlight bulb you go for? I've just got a pair of Osram's, small T10 and a H4.

Set rider sag front and rear, it was at about 45-47mm with default settings so put it to 35mm. The front spring looks like it's a little soft but still fine for road use as it's almost on it's max pre-load setting. I'm going to take it for a spin tomorrow and see how it feels. I think it needs a little more rebound as well but not going to touch it until I'm out on the road.

Just adjusted my chain for the ever first time in my life. Just followed a video off youtube and its worked well. See how it goes.

Cheers, i liked the way I didn't have to mess with relays (if I installed smaller led aftermarket indicators) good for £20.

I had an old ring 100w xenon look bulb I randomly found in my loft from years ago. Looks really good however produces some heat! I was looking at osram before I found that one.

I've just fitted these and have to say ****ING AWESOME!

And they're CE and ROAD LEGAL! The blue effect is awesome and I'd go as far to say, they look around 50% brighter and cleaner than my old standard ones... WOW, bike looks fantastic when they're on now. Took some pictures but just looks white, you can't see the blue glow around it !

Anyone not using a HID kit then buy these, seriously blown away with them! Way better than the old Philips ones I had in my old car, these really do look intense white with a blue surround... awesome!

What about the guy coming towards you who can't see a thing through his visor?

Pet hate of mine.
You mean the brightness? But if it's blinding people then it's not adjusted correctly surely? So to me, it shouldn't blind anyone, it's just more fo a white than a yellow colour. says on the box it gives upto 20% more light, but to me, I think it's more... hard to measure obviously. At the end of the day as long as it's not blinding people which it shouldn't if adjusted to correct height I'll be safer as I can see better on the road... win win... also if they're CE approved and road legal, they shouldn't be blinding people should they?

However agreed, people with headlamps on their cars blinding everyone should be shot!

The blue ones freak me out, if someone comes up behind you with them the first glimpse in the mirrors make it look like a cop car is coming up :( Sometimes end up slowing down only for a smoking A4 TDI to rocket past.

might tries these one H4-Ring-XENON-Ultima-120

yeah when I come up behind cars on the motorway in my Saab (Xenon buls with blue tint) people do slow down, especially as I have a black car so it's not a risk they want to take hahaha.

Them bulbs look good, the Oshram ones get the best reviews though from what I can see with the Philips and they do do pure white etc, take a look on their site see if there's anything on there.

Today my bike taught me a lesson....

Make sure you have WD-40 to hand when removing stickers:(

So tomorrow if it is not raining I will get some WD-40 on my way to meet a friend and then get rid of the glue so I can put my tank pad on.

Only posted this as i am sure some of you have been through this and can have a chuckle:D

For normal stickers I use a hair dryer and they come off with ease.

Cheated on her with this:

There's very little in it between this any any other 1000 sportbike tbh, they are all rather shockingly quick these days!

I like its rawness, it has absolutely no electronics; not even ABS fitted to this one. I'd say it's more fun at legal speeds & a better road bike than say the BMW s1000rr, though the BMW is easier to ride more quickly and is more comfortable for a bigger rider (like me!).

That black blade is lovely. Love the end can too. I know what you mean about the lack of electronics, and the rawness. My dad's multistrada in comparison is full of electronics. Just more to go wrong haha.

I think Honda went the right way with this bike.

Definitely so if you're looking for a sportbike for weekend fun without having to ride it like a lunatic. It's a shame that some people will have to choose something like the BMW purely because its spec's read better on paper. I'd take the BMW for trackdays though, I'm 100% sure its abilities outshine the Honda in that regard.

Honda have even managed to get a bit of soul/character into this bike, I think the full Akrapovic system really helps though - this is one of the best sounding IL4 engined bikes I've heard in a long, long time.

Not what have I done to my bike, but for my bike. This morning I've finished clearing the yard area as the side of the house.

I realise afterwards, this means little as I don't have the before picture, but I can tell you, this was a mess!

It's now ready for when I can actually get my track bike over here :)

Anyone know how much a new wider gate might cost me?
