What do you pay for Sky / Virgin media

£62 for;

- 152mb (which often sits at 158mb)
- Unlimited weekend phonecalls
- TV XXL package that has the TiVo stuff too

No idea if it's good or bad, but i very seldom watch TV (apart from catfish and gogglebox on the weekend with the misses!) and haven't used the phone since i moved in, will be cutting this down once the 18month contract is up :p

Sky, Have everything bar Sports.

Family package
HD package
Movies
3D
Sky Go Extra
Multiroom
Fibre Unlimited
Talk Weekends.

£64 p/m for a year, could have had Sky Sports for an extra £1 a month but I never watch it.

Usually Virgin isn't available in flats (unless they were pre-wired), however on the off chance your new flat is able to be wired for something other than Sky, we pay the following (this is through a few retention type deals):

Broadband: 100mb unlimited
TV: XL Package (all channels bar moves and sports, including HD), 2 room subscription
Phone: Medium (free weekend calls)
Hardware: "Super" Hub router; 500GB TiVo box for lounge; 80GB "HD" box for bedroom

We pay £65 for this at the moment, it tends to go up yearly by a few pounds until we complain...

We have been starved of Sky sports and broadband for 3 years and have signed for another apartment today where its available.

Calling Sky, they couldn't give me a price because he told me it varied based on the current details and said to ring back when I have the property address.

How much is:

Standard Sky TV
Sky Sports
Sky Broadband Fibre unlimited & unlimited pro (38mb / 76mb from understanding)
Sky phone line required for broadband

Should we look at Virgin media or other companies? - We have had NTL and Virgin media in the past and both were nothing on Sky

Hit me up with a trust message Guest2 and I will sort you out.

£65 for everything sounds pretty good! Does that include the landline?

Done. Thanks

I've just spent 30 minutes on the phone to someone working at Sky

He quoted me £86.65 for the following;

Sky + Sky Sports
Standard broadband unlimited
phone line but no calls

Then went away for a couple of minutes and came back with £61.65 including Sky HD and F1 channel.

To add Fibre pro unlimited it would be a £50 installation fee take it to £87.40 a month (including the above)

I pay, I mean 'my friend' pays, £25 a year for the full package (including all the adult channels).

Hint....look up card sharing (cccam) on Google ;)

We left and after about 6 months they offered us a decent deal to come back, £8 a month for Family Pack HD (1 year).

Didn't really miss it tbh but for £8 a month I like the Sky+ recording and Game of Thrones had just started again. :o

Have Fibre through Plusnet as it was a better deal without any of the capped nonsense on Sky's lower tariff.

Keep an eye out for friends & family codes and topcashback / quidco. Word of warning though is that you live in an apartment then cashback probably won't work as it won't let you complete the order online as it will require a "specialist engineer" to come out and plug a cable in to the communal dish. :p

I went through Quidco for my Sky deal.

Got £115 cashback & £50 credit to my Sky account. Paying £23.75 pm for family bundle including Sky Go.

I moved from Virgin where I was paying £79 pm for the similar channel package + 152mb broadband
I've kept the broadband package, which I'm paying £31.99 pm.

Looks like some dodgy Ugandan site. and its €80 for the year.

Does it include a phone line or Fibre broadband? No idea why people get these services. If you want to go the dodgy route, just get fast internet and the many sites you can stream free movies and sports channels. They are usually rubbish though, we went to watch a boxing match at a mates years ago and it cut out half way through

Lots of people sell "Sky gifts" (look on ebay), my friend pays £25 for a year or £35 for two years.

No this is just for TV.

Because £25 for a year of every Sky channel is a lot cheaper than £150 a month for the same.

Streaming is like that, but card sharing isn't streaming.

Basically, the TV signal comes via the satellite dish (so you need one installed and the cabling), the box is plugged into the dish and then plugged into the internet which goes off to a server and gets the encryption code for each channel taken from someone with a legitimate Sky card.

Hence you get a perfect TV signal, and is not comparable with streaming.

I don't bother wasting money on Sky etc as I hardly watch TV, if I do freeview is enough for me, and most of the time I just stream online anyway, and I use a friends Sky Go account which has lots anyway (movies, sports and the other select few)
