What do you think of the 4070Ti?

Why are people complaining about the 4070 TIs 4K performance?

4K-p.webp

72 FPS minimums in most games. A little behind the competition (7900 XT), which I'd say is a bit better at 4K, but both can handle games at 4K. The minimums are 56% higher than the RTX 3070, an 50% higher than the RTX 4070 TI.

The ugly thing is the prices.

RT performance isn't much better than the 7900XT either.... they are both bad for the money. we are paying £900 for mid level cards now, people buying these need a sanity check, people paying phone number prices for halo cards, i get that.... these are humble mass market level cards, its a Ford Focus not a Bentley. £900.

i just feel RDNA 3 is a giant step backward for AMD. RNDA RX 5000 was great product. showed potential in the Radeon lineup. the pricing wasnt super competitive for MSRP or release prices as 5700XT was priced about 10% cheaper than 2070 Super.
I've done a really rough analysis on 4070ti and 7900XT/X on another thread, and I was damning about the price being charged for the amount of silicon, PCBs and ancilliary devices. Further, for the amount of silicon and memory, the 7900XT has woeful performance when compared to the 4070ti.

The price of both is exceptionally high. Both should be cheaper, and absolutely can be cheaper if NV and AMD wanted to increase sales.

I estimated the 4070ti to cost within 20% of the 3060ti to manufacture. And it costs... 100% more!

Congrats? I'm glad you're getting richer while your long term customers are getting priced out of their hobby.
Not really Gibbo's fault is it?

When the 7900s went of sale and were selling out some people became interested in how well they were selling and how well the 4080s were selling and asking Gibbo for details. Gibbo lets people know how well these are selling and people get upset...

Deffo not Gibbos fault. I know full well hes not happy with the prices and the state of the market.. He can only sell what's available at the prices set by the greedy manufacturers

Obviously not his fault but smuggly proclaiming the "hatred" is helping sales when we're all rightfully concerned about where the hardware market is heading can rub people the wrong way

No, no it's not... he's just a salesman, but they will get the majority of the flack because of the milking and that added extra BS for the OC taxes.

It's business and they don't make a massive amount per GPU sold.
Besides, it's obvious Gibbers is drumming up FOMO :D .Loads are buying one and other retailers selling out so you should buy one too before all sold out ;).
Joking aside it'll be interesting to see if the sales are maintained once the initial demand has been absorbed.
I find it crazy an upper-mid tier GPU is £900+ but it is what it is. So far at least the 40 series has saved me money as I've not bought anything. Only GPU which interests me really is the 4090 but I don't game enough to justify £1600. As a tightwad I see that as a loss of £72 interest a year @ 4.5% which is now possible(fixed term) to buy something that will likely depreciate massively. Passive income for the win ;) and I'll stick with an older GPU.

Yep damn these frigging prices - now even on mid tier ****..!
Wonder what the 4060 will go for, and how it performs. I really need to upgrade my old 2060S, but what the hell to do with these awful pricing :/

A buddy bought a 3080ti for cheap - pre owned, so thats maybe were I sould be looking right?
But that also means no DLSS3 - frame generation ..Damnit!

3090 Ti's even second hand are 900. If you can grab for msrp a 4070ti you are better off electricity useage. That's also taking into consideration you're getting a second hand card Vs a new one.

You pay your money you make your choice I guess.

Edit - I tried quoting multiple messages and failed... This was in response to the electricity use calculations against a 3090ti Vs a 407ti

Lasst two 3090TIs on MM were 700 and 800.

wonder what kind of performance this gen we will get in the £650 range considering I paid that for the 3080 FE

I would be surprised if the 4070 (non ti) is much more than 5% faster than the 3080. Maybe it will be £600 instead of £650+. Maybe... I doubt even the AMD cards will be worth it to upgrade at this price point, and they may even still have worse raytracing.

But I was never expecting much this generation in £/performance. Due to >10% £/$ loss and 15% inflation from other sources in the last 2 years.

OK, plus sides? Cards do seem to hold a bit more value for longer than they used to 'back in the day'. They are more reliable too than they used to be. Though we seem to be back tracking on number of years official warranty. It will use less power. And that will save you some money over its lifespan. Throwing you a bone, I know.

You also got lucky at the £650 rrp! :D
