What do you think of the 4070Ti?

Poor value though good performance.

Not especially appealing in the current market, but not as poor overall as I was expecting.

so when do these go live with prices? I suspect there will be none for £800

When Nv sold the 3060 gpu+ram package to the AIB partners there was a $5 left over for a cooling solution until they hit the MSRP. This is why the 3060 has never been seen at anything close to its MSRP.

I expect the AIB partners to be equally squeezed with the 4070ti so unless there is an official price drop it will never be at $800. Steve mentioned the 4070ti TUF will be $850 but I expect that to be extremely limited in numbers and most of the cards will be OC versions that are 50-100 dollars more expensive.

I expect retailers are also on extremely tight margins and in difficult position.

His business is conveying correct information to the consumer, it's not personal per se. Nvidia's BS department reached new levels with the 3x 3090ti claims and should rightly be pointed out whenever possible, as would such rubbish if it appeared in scientific journals. We definitely need people like them, it's just a shame the customer base is far larger than people who view his and other likeminded videos, as can be seen by how many bought the Alienware Aurora pre-built.
i was only talking abt the recommendation section of his video.. he has got to help consumers identify options and make a recommendation cant be going on a personal spiel here and talking like someone on a debate panel criticizing government policies, it sound good and all that but ultimately the consumers are none the wiser

I don't think he left anyone in any doubt that this was a card to be avoided.

Think GN's video is bang on, I don't think anything he said is a personal thing, rather just the cold hard facts.
There's a really opportunity here for AMD to seize the moment, drop the price on the 7900xt and sell a load.
I hope that happens but past experience tells me that it'll be another missed window and this crazy pricing mess will continue.
It does make me wonder, as someone that has no experience in marketing or selling products, these points that I think we all agree on, pricing, opportunity windows etc.
Do AMD and NVidia have way smarter people than us working behind closed doors that know what they are doing and this is all part of a plan, or our we right?
Could it be that both companies have people working in marketing that just have regular brain farts? And don't know their arse from their elbow?

so what's his recommendation 1) buy 7900xt b) used 3090 ti c) sit out.. its not very clear from where he is coming
he kinda goes on a tangent educating nvidia on market strategy, when the intended audience is still scratching their collective heads - yes i should stop running.. then what??

Iv been round and round in circles today and scoured the internet looking for deals, I'm not wanting to go 2nd hand.

For me coming from a 1080ti and gaming at 1440p, not having to upgrade my PSU or go 2nd hand, if a 4070ti pops up around 850, regardless of naming convention it'll be a reasonable purchase for me.

I think it performs around the same as the competition I'm looking at, either the same price or cheaper, if 850 and will use less power/run cooler hopefully.

Painful upgrade times really...

I think it's pretty clear his advice is "don't upgrade right now if this is the class of product you want"

I mean I bought my 3060 Ti for £390 just over 2 years ago and was hoping for an upgrade out of this gen, but as prices/performance goes my best option is still a used 3080

On the stock notifications page for the two Inno3D X3 models, it lists the prices as £829.99 (non OC) and £848.99 (OC).

I have no idea if that is wrong, or is not meant to be shown, or something, but that is what it shows having added stock notifications to my account for those two cards.

But you can have a 60 class replacement card from Nvidia for only £900, what more do you want?

And currently if that's accurate it's cheaper than the majority of 3080's available, better performance and better power efficiency.

Still agreed it's not great because of the cost but I would really like to upgrade.

stil close I wouldnt buy this for 4K anyway and dont forget it uses less power I aint got issue of its performance and uplift from last its the pricing for 70 tier card I have an issue with

its a shame we actually have really good cards but stupidly priced from both AMD and Nvidia

The 4090 is already 64% faster and no doubt would be even higher without the fact that's it's bottlenecking in some titles so anyone who buys the 4070ti for £900 which will likely be the price then next gen pays a similar amount for a 5070ti probably won't even end up with a card as fast as the 4090 especially as the node jump won't be so big next time.

What on earth are you playing at 1440p that needs a £850 graphics card?

Much to my shame I bought a scalped 3070 back in Nov 2020 (in my defense, my old card died and it was that or some potatoe card that was also going for obsene money) and I've never forgiven myself for being an enabler of these prices. To be fair to Nvidia and AMD, they saw scalpers profit on their products so are just charging what they think the market will bear (and clearly did bear over much of the last two years) but circumstances have changed, there are no miners this time, if I was them I would probably of chanced my arm too but reality has got to set in soon.

What are you talking about? The die size is on par for a 3rd tier class on an up to date node. Its smaller compared to some 70 class dies that have been on nodes longer abandoned by Apple.

1060 vs 970 = 10-15%
2060 vs 1070 = 10%
3060 vs 2070 = only faster in productivity.
4070ti vs 3070 = 55% faster

The 'its really a 4060' joke is old now.
