What film did you watch last night?

Judy Garland, maybe the most beautiful film star of all time?

I beg to differ :)

Most Blu-Ray's are region free except Fox one's which never are.

Just watched Face/Off again. Brilliant, brilliant film. Nicholas Cage is superb in it.

Caught that on bbc iplayer last week and his character is superb.

Watched Resevoir Dogs last night for the seven-teenth time, never get tired of that.

I beg to differ :)

You have good taste!

a film called mirrors

Let me give you both a hand about how this thread works. ;)

We all post what film we have watched but not only that we comment on what we thought of the film. Yes, the thread title doesn't ask for that but have you read any of the posts in this thread?

We do it because it is helpful to have an opinion about a film as it helps the many that readers of this thread decide if the film is worth watching or/and gives a reader an idea of what to expect. It is the natural thing to do and goes without saying that after watching something you speak your mind about what you thought of it! Some may disagree what you think about the film but still, it is worth posting what you thought of the film. So give us your review of it! - Don't be lazy.

This is one of only a few useful on going threads on this forum IMO help keep it useful and let us all know what you thought of the film you have watched.

Anyway I watched Mirrors tonight.

It was surprising to see Keither Sutherland in this below average film, it took about 15 minutes to realise it was average. I felt like he was way too big for the film, he kept coming out with lines that I would hear from the TV series 24, which was just strange.

The wife was much over the top for the first half with the hating of Keither's character, felt almost unrealistic and false about her hatred towards him.

But that aside I found the story to be not a horror at all, no suspense or surprise. I just found it to be boring and I came close to turning the film off after 45 minutes! The opening scene is done very well but I find the film quickly goes down hill. There are some scenes which are done quite nicely, gore and special effects but that is about all there is to offer. The direction of the story is just silly and the roots of the story is stupid. I can think of other horror films that use mirrors to such a greater effect such as

Nothing scary at all here about from the way the story goes! Let us not talk about the ending! Blimey how can the above users say they watched this without even mentioning the terrible ending... I do not know.

Not a good watch IMO 4/10

I am trying to think of another horror film that involved mirror in perhaps 2006-8 can't think of it! A much better watch, anyone know? Starred a woman in southern America.

With recentish horror films I found 100 feet a better recent horror despite it's lower rating in IMBD, it is far from being a great film but I found it being a better watch than Mirrors.

See, the mistake I made here - not for the first time - was to project my own values onto the opinions of complete strangers just because I frequent the same forum as them.

"Brilliant"? Go on, then, let's give it a chance, I thought. So I fired up iPlayer...

I can summarise my opinion of Face/Off by evoking Spinal Tap's "Shark Sandwich" review: ****/Off.

[I hope that meets 2StepSteve's expectations ;)]

Nicholas Cage's performance wasn't so much "superb" as "the sole redeeming feature". And there is no greater measure of a film than Cage's acting being the highlight.

Don't worry, I know I'm alone in this. I've checked IMDB. I was dismayed and embarrassed for our species by the number of times words like "psychological", "philosophical" and "complex" were bandied about.

Transformers 2.

Before I start, I don't want this to sound too negative as I really enjoyed the film.....

I'd definitely say it's better than the first. Great special effects as expected, but it's a typical Michael Bay film though.... "maybe if we blind them with amazing CGI and special effects the weak storyline will be forgiven".... It was a little cringe worthy at times. Also I found it almost impossible to tell any of the Decepticons apart tbh.

However, on the plus side, it has Megan Fox in it! The Blonde at the beginning is worth a shout too !

Yesterday watched Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Watchmen, seen both previously but both are enjoyable (for different reasons) so deserve to be re-watched :)

I watched Watchmen Director's Cut on Bluray. Very enjoyable, the director's cut didn't add much over the original cut though. Watching the film again I grew to dislike Dr Manhatten (not the character so much and the special effect - I know that he is not technically a person any more so doesn't have to look exactly like one but I found his face and neck animation distracting.)

Anyway still a very watchable film 4/5.

I watched Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs

Was actually a really funny film. I like and recommend highly. For some reason, I had put it in last place against films like 'Up' etc that were out around the same time, but after watching it, its definately the funniest CGI film I've seen in a long time
