What film did you watch last night?

Her

8.5 / 10

A clever, well acted and well scripted story which really intrigued me. The concept of the film is bizarre (having a relationship and falling in love with an OS) but thought provoking in terms of how we will connect with technology of the future. Some of the cinematography and grading was a bit too 'instagram' for my liking and the sex scenes had me reaching for the remote to turn the volume down (I wouldn't usually but it felt so awkward).

The Hunger Games Catching Fire - 7/10

Took a while to get going but was pretty good when it did, and the ending made me want to see the next films!

American Hustle - 7/10

Overall enjoyed it but did seem to drag at a few points

Saving Mr. Banks. 7/10

The Mrs. wanted to watch it, was pleasantly surprised at how not terrible it was.

About Walt Disney acquiring the rights to Mary Poppins to make it a film.

This surprises me.

As soon as I saw a WWE wrestler in it, I thought it was bound to be crap.

When he got the part he went and took a load more acting lessons to make sure he did it well. I've not seen the film yet sadly due to work so I don't know how hard his part is but he did take it seriously.

He's does a good job in my opinion. Until the comment above I'd no idea who the guy was.

Lilo and Stitch with the wife and kids. It's OK, but nothing close to Disney's best. Still, the girls watched to the end without getting bored, so it did the job.

Pi 1998 (not life of pi) about a number theorist trying to crack the stock market but it all gets very sinister. 7.5/10. Fascinating, disturbing, intense, surreal.

Guardians of the Galaxy: 8.5/10 a great film but it doesn't make a 10 as I find any comic book adaptation too predictable and can never fully believe the suspense no matter how big the bad guy. Also looses half a point as I found it too cleaned up for PG13 approval, once I'd noticed that I couldn't unsee it, I'd like to see what they would have done with a 18 certificate guardians.

All that said this is probably the best comic book movie since the batman trilogy.
