What film did you watch last night?

Double

WTF, it's so weird, good, but weird !

I think I kept watching just to see how he is going to solve the problem. Not something I would watch again though.

7/10

Memories of Murder. procedural Korean film about the hunt for a serial killer in rural South Korea. absolutely gut-wrenching, hilarious, and tragic. beats Zodiac out of the park if these types of films are your bag. has one scene, in particular, that will stay with you forever. zero gore, either. it's all about the story, desperation, and the grim passing of time. incredible film!

47 Ronin. After going through Noah last week I could be viewed as a glutton for punishment but it's not my fault that actors I like are doing not very well received films. However like Noah I ended up enjoying this. Didn't realise it was based on a true story either which made me wish it wasn't as fantasy heavy as it ended up being. Also seems like a chunk of the film was cut out in the middle. A solid 6/10 for me.

Movie night last night, went for a Marvel 3D double bill.

Captain America The Winter Soldier (9/10) (3D BluRay)
How a Marvel film should be done :)

The Amazing Spiderman 2 (6.5/10) (3D BluRay)
A bit meh, watchable but not n the same league as ole Capt.A :(, 3D saved it from being a 5.5.

Desperado.

Violent but with a decent albeit, comical story and has aged very well. There are so many memorable scenes, the Guitar case in the Bar - 1995 was a good year for movies with Heat and Seven.

Dunno about you, but I always thought the original El Mariachi was the better film, even with it's low budget and no-name cast.

Desperado is still pretty decent though :)

Petey, I have never seen the original El Mariachi films!

It's always been on the 'list' will definitely check them out. :)

Immortals on c4 last night, the one with henry cavil rather than any similarly named film.
I'd say 5/10, nothing great about it, reasonably well shot, semi-coherent, enjoyed John Hurt as the old man, and a wonderful shot involving 'dat gap! but the story wasn't overly engaging, I didn't care for any of the characters. The hero was never demonstrated in proper peril at any stage.
So a bit meh overall.

The Hooligan Factory , 6/10

tried to do for football violence what Shaun of the dead did for brain munching zombies,
almost pulled it off but not quit .
