What film did you watch last night?

Stoker Absolutely amazing looking film, maybe the best I've seen from a cinematography point of view. The story was strange, stilted and dark, but it stays with you, which means its doing something right... 8/10.

GOTG... Great fun 7/10

Frozen. Only the second time I've seen it. It's technically very impressive, but the story doesn't grab me as much as Tangled or Beauty and the Beast.

Memories of Murder. procedural Korean film about the hunt for a serial killer in rural South Korea. absolutely gut-wrenching, hilarious, and tragic. beats Zodiac out of the park if these types of films are your bag. has one scene, in particular, that will stay with you forever. zero gore, either. it's all about the story, desperation, and the grim passing of time. incredible film!

It is a great film. Based on a true story as well i believe

kung fu hustle
first time ive watched it, action was ok, a bit over the top, but I like the comedy.

Stephen Chow films tend to have action scenes which are like theatrical dance pieces.
I think comic/action would best describe his movies.
Totally over the top.

Shaolin Soccer is another one.

Divergent
6/10
It held my attention while I was exercising.

The Host.
Hunger Games.
Divergent.
All these movies feel as if they have been written/made by the same people.
They seem almost identical with minor differences.
I think if Divergent had J.Lawrence in it, it would've made as much money as Hunger Games.

In a nutshell, the first half of the movie is about a teenage girl being trained to be a fighter.
The next half of the movie is about her using her skills against the people who trained her.

Guardians of the Galaxy....Thought it was a great movie. Best of the year so far, narrowly in front of Edge of a tomorrow and Rise of the planet of the Apes in third....I expect Interstellar to top them all though.

And Karen Gillan in blue....oh my days!!!!

The Raid 2, didn't have the impact of the first but the choreography is outstanding, found myself wincing many times throughout due the nature of some of it. They tried too much to make it an epic crime story and it was a little drawn out. Trim about 30 minutes of pointless exposition and it would be 8/10, otherwise 7/10 right now.

All said though, you'll struggle to find anything that matches Raid 1 and 2 for fight scenes.

Divergent - 6.5/10

Similar in some ways to The Hunger Games, but not as good.

300: Rise of an Empire: 6/10

Easy to watch but not nearly as good as the first 300.

Rise of the planet of the apes

7/10. Little bit slow in the middle but fantastic ending. All in all a solid film. It got me excited to then go to the cinema last night and see....

Dawn of the planet of the apes

8.5/10. Absolutely brilliant film all the way through. Special effects were great, story was good. Found it good how they made it so you sympathise with the apes one minute then sympathise with the humans.
