What film did you watch last night?

Uncanny. Low budget transhumanist sci fi. Probably looked good on paper. Doesn't work so well on film.

5/10.

Fury - 8/10

Very good film however:

I did find the final "last stand" battle scene a little bit hard to swallow. I suppose things like this may have happened and I know there were genuine stories of people holding out in tanks against a larger force for a while, but I just felt all the way through it that they would have been dead far sooner that the film depicted! Also the sudden change from daytime to night time was jarring

Soundtrack was brilliant also.

Obviously it is no Saving Private Ryan or Band of Brothers but still a very good film.

Lone Ranger - 7/10

Good for the action etc. Just seems a bit much that they keep on going despite all of them being shot multiple times..

Meru (2015 )

I have always been a fan of mountaineering/climbing documentaries. Obviously Touching the Void is a highlight, but this is a great story.

The cinematography is breathtaking and the human element is outstanding.

Thoroughly enjoyable!

9/10

The Raid. Hugely impressive action, if rather thin on plot and character.

Yes, this really is a great film. I must watch again soon.

You should try the second film also, it's nowhere near as good (on all three of the counts you mention above), but still worth a watch.

(mystery/adventure)

The precursor to Inception in many ways, with a bit of The Matrix mixed in. Often intentionally cheesy, because it's a film about being in a VR game world, and most people back in '99 thought games were for kids.

It's not horror; it's not even slightly scary or even tense. Mostly you keep watching to find out what the heck is happening, without caring too much about who gets killed :p

Watchable, but overrated, tbh.

How have you been registered here since 2006 and only now noticed this policy?

I generally don't swear when i write so has never happened to me personally.

I expect it's less about being 'family friendly', more to do with the forum/main site getting blacklisted & blocked in workplaces

Either way doesn't bother me just not accustomed to seeing censorship like it on forums

Yeah, it was beyond messed up in places, but I think the message carried through, despite the author getting a bit carried away with all the depravity.

Loved the book and have got another Bret EE book lined up but forget the name atm so...

Did anyone see American Psycho: The Musical with Matt Smith?
Not usually one for musicals to say the least, nor particually Matt Smith but I thought it was brilliant, especially how they 'remixed' all the original 80s music with new scores.
In fact I'd love to see it again.
