What film did you watch last night?

In The Heart Of The Sea 7/10.
Not bad was expecting a Moby Dick remake , last 1/4 of the film is a bit grim.
Took me till near the end to realise he was Thor(not in this film in the Thor films).

But you didn't get an opinion from the guy you asked so I gave you mine which was likely to be very close to his. It just so happened that the forth review I found about it pretty much matched my thoughts - that's it. That's the funny thing about professional journalists - they tend to have betters ways of putting points across than us plebs.

Having now just read his review on Spectre that you linked I can only agree with you - he doesn't know his onions (in regards to that film I feel). But I'm 52 and no fan-boy or follower of anyone at all - I'm sorry if you thought I did. I don't read The Telegraph at all either - you seem to know more about it's workings than I ever will so you have me at a disadvantage there. There's also absolutely no 'argument' of any kind here, honestly, you've really lost me on that one as well!? It was a single link to a review that matched my thoughts *sheesh*.

So anyway - you now know my thoughts about the film, what were yours? I take it that you didn't enjoy it at all for some reason - maybe you didn't like Memento, The Prestige, Inception, The Dark Knight or some of his others either?

I thought it was too long.
It was to clever for its own good.
I thought it patronised its audience by constantly explaining science theory.
( I actually came out of the IMAX and was seething at the fact that two astronauts were showing each other the wormhole with a piece of paper and a pen) When both new what a wormhole was.
The robots were daft.
The script was clunky.
Zero G looked fake.
The fight with Matt Damon and Mathew M was comedy gold

I did think the sound design was amazing though.Sounded amazing at the IMAX.

But other than that..The film falls flat for me.Its a pretentious over-long silly bit of cinema that wants to be taken seriously.

See here .This video is harsh but quite funny in places.

I think Nolans best work is Memento. Its a brilliant film. I liked Inception too. But Interstellar was a huge disappointment for me. There are just problems with it that bug me.

CArol - the movie about lesbians in the Fifties, very intriguing and nicely made, with lots of effort. And the scenography was damn doog, very authentic I must admit.

Jesus again?! Can you not focus on ruining just one film for everyone at a time.

Nobody on here give a flying **** about your opinion any more.

I was asked...I gave...

Dude you really need to chill...:D

This thread is about watching a movie and giving an opinion...that's what hundreds of people have been doing since this thread started...

Singling me out is out of order. Why can everyone else voice their opinion and I can't..

If my posts upset you then put me on ignore...

*behave*

You make discussing a film on here that you don't like tedious to unbearable, and the only way out appears to be to simply not come here. Why the mods let you destroy this corner of the forum repeatedly I don't know, but they do so it looks like were stuck with you.

While I do understand why people might have an issue with the way easy goes about things, I don't see how his criticism of a film ruins that film for anyone that enjoyed it.

See below...I've not seen Steve jobs yet...does this persons opinion ruin the film when I come to watch it....

Glen8 gives it more of a thrashing than I did interstellar ...so I'm unsure why people get upset when I post...

Steve Jobs 3/10

Absolute rubbish, and not a patch on the Aston Kutcher one (which everyone hates because its cool to hate Kutcher).

Nothing more than a few backstage scenes at apple keynotes.

I was expecting much more, and thank heavens I didn't pay to go to the cinema. Not even winslet could save this disaster.

It's a common problem with people these days.

Ever noticed that every time a critic (a real one) gives a bad review of a film (or anything), 1000 rabid fans descend to the comments section to let him know how "wrong" he is? Often times resorting to personal insults, belittling the intelligence of the author, and various other playground antics.

I have long come to the conclusion that some people are getting way to emotionally involved with their favourite things - be they actors, directors, films, franchises, or anything. Such people increasingly react to any perceived criticism with a completely out-of-proportion attack on the critic.

It is amazing how hostile people will become if you don't like something they do. We're talking psychopathic levels of hatred directed at someone with a dissenting opinion. All because they don't like something they do.

If you're critical of anything these days, you need to have a flame suit made from the stuff NASA shield the shuttle with :p

Let's take apart Highlander for fun ;)

It's pointless, he will just blindly plow on, to the extent of simply ignoring things put right in front of him.

I've come to realise that if I want to discuss all films, rather than just ones easyrider likes, I should go elsewhere. Shame really, I've never really spent any time in the Movies subforum here, and I won't be spending much time here again.

But the key point you, and easyrider have completely missed, is that my opinion of the film is the same as yours!

My issues with easyrider are not his opinions, its him.

Well, I did rewatch it last night and while it's still good and I did enjoy it, it's not as good as I remembered it.

Nothing to do with it not ageing well or anything like that though. I don't mind films that are simply a product of their time with ropey effects etc. That stuff is just part of the charm IMO.

I think it's the way he seems to think his some sort of authority on films and film production, this combined with a rather arrogant and condescending tone is rather grating to say the least!!

We get it dude you love films! But guess what we do too and like Music it can be very relative so what one person finds enjoyable can seem very drab for another.

Just because you have built yourself a badass cinema it doesn't make you some sort of expert and judging by some of your contrarian views on certain films it comes across more snobbish and arrogant than passionate and informative!!

I don't think that at all.

Exactly...Do I get all upset when I hear people diss The Beatles? No? people can like what they like but surely I can ask why?

Thats what's interesting.

Thanks you for the compliment but what has my home cinema go to do with anything?

Seriously?

I can be quite opinionated but so can anyone else..See below...Why does this post not upset people? Its opinionated and scathing about the film Steve Jobs.

I might have seen Steve Jobs...But this mini review would not upset me...Its arrogant and to the point but good luck to him if that is what he feels about the movie.

I seem to be singled out from the rest of the people for some odd reason.
