What film did you watch last night?

Zootopia/troplis...ducked out of watching this twice already as it didn't appeal, finally bullied into it by wifey today. I really liked it, animation was stunning, great imagination and a deep underlying message that's quite relevant, one of Disney's better efforts. 8.5/10

Saw this today too. Was fantastic. Had me in stitches in some parts. So clever. Great story and theme tune too. 8.5/10

I took my 6yo daughter to see Zootropolis this morning.

We thought it was great, animation was fantastic and I proper belly laughed in a few places.

I'd give it 8/10!

Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Observations:

* I struggled to get into most of the characters, maybe that's because they are new

* bit of a shame that Han never got to see Luke

* too many light moments / comments

* Han's death didn't seem to cause that much of a stir / appeared to be soon pushed aside

* something I've noticed with the newer films is that they appear too 'clean', where as the first three had that used look about them, e.g. scuffed panels on the inside of a ship

* surprised Luke didn't appear until the very end, though for most of the film I didn't even think about him, so it couldn't have been that bad

* some nice references to the older films at times

* Carrie Fisher looked / sounded worse than I expected (despite taking into account her age / battle with drugs / cosmetic changes)

The Hateful Eight 6/10

I didn't get into this movie at all. It had brilliant visuals, really well shot. It looked class. The special effects were very well done. But, it was pretty boring to be honest. The gory deaths didn't do anything for the movie, It was just gory for the sake of been gory.

The plot was silly too, why did the guy hide under the floor for so long? Why didn't they take out Ruth when he was alone with Daisy in the cabin? They were biggest bunch of waster gang members ever.

Some interesting moments and the beautiful cinematography stopped it been a total fail.

The Eddie the Eagle film. 7.5/10

Moderately funny in parts. Hugh jackman was amusing in a few scenes. Not worth a special trip to the cinema bit a 2 for 1 or cheapy it's not awful.

5th Wave. 3/10

Don't even bother with this one. If you take out chloe grace moretz's performance this would be a straight to dvd movie and panned by ever critic going.

Primer - knowing this was as complicated as a very complicated thing, I went on my phone and found a timeline (or several) to attempt to explain what is going on. In fairness, I did follow most of it. Can't say it really did anything for me but kudos for making a decent-ish looking film on a tiny budget. 5/10

Touching the Void - Documentary film regarding an ill-fated climbing expedition. Being a documentary rather than a film I'm not going to rate it. It's a very good watch nonetheless.

Where did you see this?

Hardcore Henry (2016) - 3/10

Definitely different and leaves an impression, but a mixed one at best.

Technically the film is very impressive with fast paced and unrelenting action scenes which are excessively gory, but the editing between shots breaks immersion and makes it disjointed.

The story is nonsensical with plenty of wacky Russian culture and over the top characters. Although there is some wit to be found, most of the humour is too weird or immature to be funny.

Star **** the fanny awakens (i will never call it by its "official title" never.. because that ****es on the holy trinity of A new Hope, Empires and Return of the Jedi)

Never been so angry at a film....beyond words...

Need to let my rage subside i am that ****ed off how they have ****** screwed over this almost sacrosanct series (4,5,6 i mean)

This was even worse than episodes 1, 2 and 3 combined.

Sweet lord how i wish i could erase the last 2 hours from my mind.

Tears of rage and sorrow i have :(

/no joke :mad::(
