What film did you watch last night?

Spectre - 7/10

Agree, the film could have been so much better. I don't want to say more without spoiling the film. For me, the best part was the nod to 'From Russia With Love' awesome fight scene. The only thing, compared to Casino Royale, where Bond gets rather bruised, in this film...

The Hateful Eight - 7/10 - I'm a massive fan of the dialogue in QT's films so I enjoyed this film. There's a few "off" moments like why does no-one but the protagonists react during shootings & Tim Roths part seemed to be written for Christoph Waltz, but overall I thought the script was well written, the acting from his cast of "usuals" was fantastic and some of the exterior cinematography was stunning. I think I only got a numb bum at about the 2hr20 mark which is better than my 1hr yardstick!

I saw 'The Man who knew infinity', I'd give this a 8 / 10.

I like the look of this, will check it out!

Harcore Henry

Loved it. Crazy, but loved it. Pretty much non-stop action start to finish, ultra violent too. Sharlto Copley was excellent.

A few people walked out of the screening, maybe motion sickness or maybe just not their thing.

Before watching I was concerned about motion sickness but was happy that I had none, and I'm prone to it!

This seems to have mixed opinions, but I also like the look of it as an FPS game fan :)

The Lego Movie

Got a bit stuck for something to watch on Amazon Prime and well y'know...

The first three quarters of the film is a bit of an assault on the senses. The end is cleverly realised though, if a bit sappy... I didn't care though 'cos I was just watching for Batman! :D

For a kids film/nostalgia fest, a perfectly respectable 7.5/10

The Huntsman 7\10

Thor plaY's a Scottish LOTR character and it reminded me of starcraft.. saw it in 3d which literally added nothing but ruins the action sequences. Lots of dwarf jokes.

Rented Spectre last night for about 90p from Google Play.

An enjoyable watch, has a bit more humour in than the other Craig films. It's a little long but didn't feel like it was dragging. The Monica Bellucci part certainly could have been handled much better.

Probably my second favourite Craig Bond film after Casino Royale

Enders game 6.5/10

Avoided this fill for ages as I can't usually stand kinds in leading roles in films, especially when it comes to leading human forces against an alien race :D Caught it on tv yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. Plus it has Harrison Ford in.

A bridge of spies 7.5/10

Solid film. Intriguing and well acted

Jurassic World. Missed this in the cinema, and by Merlin's Beard am I glad I did.

4/10 just about passable and even then entirely because I like Chris Pratt. This film was really, really, really disappointing. What were the entire creative team thinking?

Unless it's supposed to somehow be really darkly ironic
Bigger? More teeth? I can see how this film could have been excellent but it's almost like the same executives that ruin everything in the film, ruined this film. Perhaps James Gunn & co. were trying to tell us something?

Hang on!... they had a creative team? :D

The Woman in Black... not great, but passable 6/10

My sister and husband wanted to see SPECTRE... they loved it, and I enjoyed my forth outing with it as much as the first... maybe more so.

In The Heart of the Sea - 6/10 - The story behind the making of Moby Dick, as told to Q from Bond by a man who starts with a Boston accent as a child but tells his story as an old man with an Irish one :D Some excellent animal & sea-based CGI and some god-awful land CGI (Hemsworths homestead is shockingly poor). The story glosses over some of the time spent at sea ("1 year later") and has the same inexperienced Captain vs world-wise 1st Mate clash we've seen in every sailing film but the story moves at an adequate pace. When you consider how much people adore Whales now it's a shocker to see Hemsworth etc stabbing them to death, even as stylised at it is.

Cinema Paradiso

Really enjoyed it, one for film lovers.

Didn't like it as much as a I thought I was going to, but my expectations were sky high. Still very worthy of its accolades imo.

8/10

Vampire (2011) 6/10 - Ran out of films to watch and this looked odd enough to be worth a punt. Imdb score seems fairly spot on. Guy has a compulsive desire to drink human blood and targets suicidal people as victims. It has some interesting ideas and definitely requires paying attention but it meanders and is unsatisfying by the end I thought.

The Gunman

Better than I expected, and interesting to see Sean Penn in an action film. It was a cut above your average Jason Statham movie.

6/10
