What film did you watch last night?

Observe and Report

Not sure what to make of this film. It doesn't seem to know what it wants to be. A comedy or whatever. Seth Rogan was absolutely loathsome as the main character. The only sympathetic character was Nell the coffee shop girl and he treated her like ****. Some of it was very funny but meh.

5/10

I've just watched a film called Fracture

Fracture is a 2007 legal/crime suspense film from both New Line Cinema and Castle Rock Entertainment, directed by Gregory Hoblit and starring Anthony Hopkins and Ryan Gosling. Ted Crawford (Anthony Hopkins) discovers that his wife has been having an affair. He then murders her and uses the justice system to prove his innocence. However, William Beachum (Ryan Gosling) is a determined lawyer bound to prove his guilt.

If anyone has seen this when Anthony plays Ted - what is the twirly / glass ball contraption used for?

watched that film, well, in 2007 and really liked it then...

Pans Labyrinth a 7/10?!?!? Are you mad? That film is pure quality - although I would agree that a little more of the fantasy stuff would've been nice.

Yep only 7/10 from me perhaps a 7.5/10 at a push. Because the fantasy storyline felt like a sideline story from the boring and predictable fighting that goes on in the hills and with the staff of the house. Don't get me wrong it wasn't a bad idea to run it parallel against this war setting but it could have been done much better I think.

Spoilers

The film does make you ask if it was in her imagination. She loves fairy tails and had her head stuck in many of the books right from the word go and during the character build up.

Even with this 'did she imagine the whole thing' or not question. I still think some more focus on the girl and how she ends up where she does at the end would have made the film far better.... for me.

I watched The Matrix - My god that looks dated now,
Harry Potter and the order of the Pheonix - lol thanks ITV - Call me sad but i quite like the Films but i would never touch a book.

Shame the films aren't a patch on the books. I wouldn't call anyone sad for reading the books or watching the films either. They are entertaining :)

It was all in her head. Her imagination was her method of escapism from her life of oppression. As for the end, I don't want to give anything away, but for me that also was quite clear. It was great film that I didn't expect to be as good as it was.

I watched '12 Angry Men' last night (1957). Have been meaning to watch it for months. Good film enjoyed it, made for a swift 90 minutes. Thought Henry Fonda was great.

Before Sunrise
A classic 90s film - boy meets girl in Vienna, have a life changing night together, both knowing that they'll probably never see each other again.
Not usually my cup of tea but quite happily watched it throughout - a solid 8/10

Before Sunset
9 years later - they meet up again. Again, very good - not quite as good as the first though, but still good. 7/10

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - I was enthralled by it! Have to say I didn't like the ending, how he physically changed - it felt wrong to me.

Anyway I thought it was very similar to Forest Gump in that it was just the story of an average person who was a bit different and did different things. Turns out the screenplays were written by the same guy.

Overall 4/5.

Over the course of the weekend i watched...

Saving Private Ryan - Still a top class film, love it.

El Mariatchi - Not as good as i remembered, hasn't aged too well. Still with the tiny budget it had it's pretty damn good.

Talladega Nights - Wasn't that funny the first time i watched it and still not that funny, I think haven't liked Will Ferrell when he has been the lead in any film.

Watched Harry Brown and have to say was pretty pleased with it...a very good movie...hard and gritty with Caine playing the OAP turned vigilante...

Also managed to watch Bounty Hunter with Butler and Aniston...have to say the only redeeming feature about the movie was Jennifer Aniston and her gorgeous body on show...for a 40 yr old shes in mighty fine shape. Butler needs to stop talking out of the side of his mouth and give up the fake American accent as it just does not suit him in all honesty....go back to the violent movies he makes.

Man Som Hatar Kvinnor. A gentle "coming of age" movie about a 16 year old Swedish lesbian who begins a relationship with a heterosexual middle aged man. :)

Disclaimer: this film is not quite as sexy as you'd expect a movie about a 16 year old Swedish lesbian to be, but it does contain some highly energetic intercourse.

Bunny and the Bull, odd film really not quite as funny as i was hoping (been a boosh fan), sad too which was unexpected. Worth a watch though.
