What film did you watch last night?

Rogue One, it was OK wouldn’t go out my way to watch it again.

When I heard people saying things like it makes Star Wars a new hope even better! Maybe I was setting my expectations a bit high. :(

@Vonhelmet

I also have the Orphanage. At some point, it really felt like the Spanish cinema was coming alive, didn't it? Have more Del Toro specifically as well: Cronos; Crimson Peak. The Shape of Water on the bucket list for this year. Dark fantasy is where he really shines. :) Little time to re-watch films these days, though.

Ghost in the Shell (2017) - 7/10
Better than the anime original in my opinion. Visually stunning and the story flows a lot better.

It spoonfeeds you instead of being subtle yeah. But no, its not a patch on the original anime lol (in my opinion i guess but probably also the majority of peoples).

Just got back from Fast 8, and wow what a load of tosh that was. The films are a bit of a guilty pleasure since the first one that had a decent story/plot etc. These days they have turned into weird random action/shooters but thats been okay for the most part. This one is a whole other level of ridiculous though, people with seemingly superhuman strength, ridiculous stunts that would put transporter to shame. Silly forced humour at every turn. It really was a terrible film lol.

Snowden.

Powerful film, unusual to find a guy that is so intelligent that isn't completely money motivated and wants to stand up for what is 'right'. Gripping film. 9/10

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them - not disappointed really as it was good but I was somehow expecting more from this. Will enjoy seeing how the next four films in the series progress. I like Eddie Redmayne a lot but he seemed to have Newt and young Stephen Hawking essentially the same character, maybe that are very similar, both seeing things others don't and exceptionally interested in their topics. Anyway 3/5

Fast 8 - 7.5/10

It is what it is, maybe getting a bit repetitive now with no real solid story line (or was that 3/4 movies ago). For that reason I only see them doing 1 or 2 more.

Still a good start that was reminiscent of some of the old ones, and a nice mix of location and actors as always.

Paul Walker was missed for sure. He would be proud of the record for best opening :)

It broke the world wide record for the biggest opening weekend ever. Over $530 million in a weekend, more than TFA did (could be inflation) but still very impressive, not just for F&F series but for any franchise.

They will keep making them over an over as long as they make a billion dollars on each one.

I think the only thing that stops them now is the actors getting too old.

That's the great thing about it. How many of us love watching films like rambo, commando and all those other 80's action flicks. No backbone what so ever but incredible over the top action sequences. Fast series is pretty much the 21st century version of that and not many people really do that anymore.

The Conjuring 2

Meh, it's ok. As far as modern horrors go, it was actually ok. Surprisingly long so some of the film felt unnecessarily padded out, but I actually enjoyed it and the ending wasn't a ridiculous cop out like every other horror film.

6/10

Jut watched Midnight Special. Well acted, ambiguous in many areas, yet it delivered enough to set my pulse and my imagination racing with thinking about who the beings were and why they were here.

It gave me a feeling of awe and wonder that I have not felt from a movie in a very long time.

8/10.

I seen it playing on sky atm but too scared to watch it. It will be the sleepless nights afterwards that stops me.
