What film did you watch last night?

Your Name - 7.5 / 10

Really enjoyed it. Initially, for the first third, it seemed a bit run of the mill but when that bit is revealed, then it had me gripped until the end.

Toni Erdmann - 6 / 10

My interest in this came from Kermode who raved about it. A german comedy (not an oxymoron, honest!) about an eccentric father who creates an alter ego to get close to his business orientated daughter.

Overall I enjoyed it, but by 'eck it was slow and at 2hrs 40 you felt every minute of it!

Baywatch
Surprised how unpopular this film was for critics. It was pretty much exactly what I expected it to be - cheesy plot with humour thrown in. There were some periods where they went a bit too long without a few jokes, but otherwise I think it did what it set out to pretty well. I found it had more laughs than most 'comedies' tend to. 6.5/10

Arrival - 10/10
How is it on the small screen? I nearly persuaded the girlfriend to watch it last night but it was too late to start it, and I was slightly apprehensive it wouldn't have the same impact on TV.

I was intrigued by this after listening to Kermode but if you say it's slow and 2hr40 I may not bother :p

Baywatch was not a comedy nor filled with purile jokes. The film is garbage.

Batman (1989) 8/10

Remember seeing this in the cinema and I still enjoy it. Much more comic book than the Bale movies, better than the following films that removed Keaton from the main role, I still feel that this film was a really good "superhero" movie. I enjoyed Returns to a lesser extent too. I have no appetite to see the Clooney or Kilmer films again however.

Compared to something like The Revenant', I thought it translated pretty well! There's certain scenes that definitely feel more 'cinematic' on the big screen (the helicopter approaching the shell for the first time), but otherwise it's fine.

Watched "The Infiltrator" with Bryan Cranston last night. Very very good movie. Acting was top notch, plot was very good, although could do with expanding the film by an hour to stop it feeling a bit rushed or unexplained at times.

Overall 8.5/10 for me.

Also watched this on a whim last week, started quite late in the evening with the intention of watching over two days. It totally hooked me and watched the lot in one sitting. Would give it an 8/10

I'm half way through 'Satanic' on Netflix. The completionist in my insists I finish, however once I have I will be writing sternly worded emails to the cast, crew, director, publishers, Netflix, and Samsung for not building a failsafe into my phone to stop me watching crap like this. Awful, awful film.

I think I enjoyed this a fair degree less than you because I enjoyed the series Narcos so much and it's dealing with the same sort of thing. The Infiltrator crammed a lot of info into it's short running time and even with that little background knowledge I had it still felt that it was taking on too much.

And the Film was always advertised as paying homage whilst also being a **** take. Not surprising really because Baywatch the tv show was so ridiculously stupid you could not make something like it without making it a comedy in this day and age

Haven't seen Narcos (yet).

But yeah, like I said, they could have easily extended the film by another hour and filled the plot gaps/given some background knowledge.

Just watched the Human Centipede trilogy for lolz but actually quite enjoyed number 3. I love the fact it's just so obscenely over the top but made to such a high standard - and Dieter Laser's voice is just epic.

My girlfriend however thinks I have serious issues. :D

Atomic blonde. 8/10

Surprised how much I enjoyed it. Went in knowing nothing, not even the actors.

Set in 1989, Berlin wall collapse cold war conclusion. Glamorous spies, brutal visceral fighting, cool music. Predictable but good story. Yeah I like it. Hidden summer gem.

Independence Day Resurgence.

As a standalone brain out film it wasn't too bad, guide funny (not sure if intentional or not) in places, but as a followup to the first it just didn't fit, completely different style of film.

Which will certainly increase it's chance of being on pour telly!
