What film did you watch last night?

You'll often find with Drive and Baby Driver that people will like one and not the other, it's the same in my friendship group, I enjoyed both but couldn't really explain why other than as others have said, they're completely different films. They don't need to be compared.

Watched Justice League last night in 4K on the OLED, and whilst it looked exceptional, particularly the colours and use of scenery, I can understand the low ratings it received, it's a bit all over the place and the parts where they've tried to injector humour, mainly with The Flash and his awkwardness are a bit bland.

4/10

prometheus unbound (a fanedit)
better than the original still nowhere near the draft script or promise of that script.

obviously they're working with limited extra scenes etc.

Prometheus, along with Covenant and Alien 4, should be taken out back and put down with a shotgun! It's rare that a movie can make other great movies worse, but these actually managed it.

The Shape of Water - 8/10
Probably now my favourite beastilality film... err wait what?!?

Beautifully shot film, well acted by all involved. Ultimately it’s a film about acceptance and our search for it.

Well because of all the chatter today I have watched both Drive and Baby Driver.

2 completely different films. from mood to character development to music to style of driving and the bitter sweet relationship in drive especially after the lift scene, where as the girl in BD loved him no matter what. Enjoyed both, BD was a little too glossy for it to convey the grittiness of it. Kevin spacey played a blinder again but over all BD has too many cringey moments. For me Drive is the better movie by far.

na....tis not

Shape of Water

8/10

Beautifully put together, superb acting, particularly from the ending actress. Such a weird movie though, but definitely enjoyable.

Godfather 1. Was in a really bad mood yesterday so ordered a take away and put that on. Really never get bored of it. May watch number 2 tonight.

The Mummy. Actually enjoyed this more than I thought I would. It was a decent romp in a ‘leave your brain at the door’ kind of way. Terrible acting though, and the Dr Jekyll character was utterly bizarre. Don’t know why he was needed. Could have done a hell of a lot better for the budget though. 5/10.

6 Days. Netflix original about the Iranian embassy siege. Thought this was overall a pretty poor film with horrible casting, apart from Mark Strong and Tim Pigott-Smith. I mean seriously, is John Henshaw really the right choice for one of the UK’s most senior coppers, and Jamie Bell cannot do a Scottish accent. He kept slipping from very ropey Scottish to American. It was laughable. The film seemed to drag with not a whole lot happening until the last day. The siege itself, while the action was good was spoilt by possibly the most annoying and cringeworthy piece of acting I’ve ever seen from Abbie Cornish, pretending to be Kate Adie. We really didn’t need the terrible running commentary. Spoilt it for me. Poor effort overall. 4/10.

Get Out - 9/10

Holy ****. That’s about all I got :p Watch it, and don’t read any spoilers before you do. I already want to see this again.

Get Out

Yeah, I can see why this was praised by almost everyone, fresh idea, creepy, and funny in places.

I predicted what was going on right before he flashed Andre.

8/10
