What film did you watch last night?

Return of the living dead 7/10
Good 80s fun
That is by far away my favourite zombie film and also, as far as I know, is the original source for “zombies eat brains” - seems unbelievable as it’s a fun film but yep, that’s where the famous association with zombies eating brains comes from :)

Such a great film. At least 9/10 from me and in my top 5 horrors for sure :)

Just watched Sonic the Hedgehog. It wasn’t great. There were a few funny lines but I was slightly irked by all the pop culture references that aren’t that funny and are really going to date the film.

5/10

My partner is offended by my score and gave it a (generous) 7/10.

Greed

Not bad, few laughs here and there but nothing to rave about. Was obviously about Philip Green from the get go! A 6/10 from me.

The Rise of Skywalker (rewatch).

Still a mess and still a cringe fest.

It could have been so much more but it's crooked acting, iffy plot line and cavalier attitude to treating the viewers as mindless fanboys who will happily hoover up whatever tripe they force down us just leaves a bitter taste
(I mean come on, should we really accept that the "ghost" of Luke can suddenly appear, put Rey on the right track then summon his old x-wing out of the sea? Let's just do whatever we want to make the plot fit
)
3/10

All the modern star wars have been a roller-coaster really:

TFA was the best of the three in the series with a solid 7/10 from me.it was decent star wars action.

TLJ was OK but suffered similar plot goofery as TRoS, dress it up as much as you like, it's still a mess. 5.5/10

It's the star wars stories that stand out for me though and Rogue One is the only modern star wars that can stand beside the originals as a classic. The whole feel is star wars but with modern gloss. The actors were generally good and the plot was nice to wrap up holes in the originals. It was thoroughly enjoyable 9/10

Rosemarys Baby

Still a true gem of the genre. Watched it with my lady friend who'd not seen it before and didn't think she'd gel with it's steady pacing, but she really loved it. Still the best dream sequence ever put to film in my opinion.

The Babadook

Still the only film to have properly unsettled me in my adult life to the point of disturbing my sleep. Again, the lady friend hadn't seen it before and she pointed out a few themes I'd not spotted before. It really is one of the best horror films of the last decade. Some excellent performances with a truly haunting premise.

Chinese Zodiac (2012) AKA Armour of God III

"Asian Hawk leads a mercenary team to recover several lost artefacts from the Old Summer Palace, the bronze heads of the 12 Chinese Zodiac animals."

:o

I thought it was a great study into adult mental health and the devastating effect it can have on younger developing minds, I thought it was a terrible horror movie though.

Never seen Rosemary’s Baby which is a bit silly really... I’ll have to check it out.

With the Babadook I presume you mean that...

The Babadook itself is a metaphor for grief.

Only by embracing it can you move forwards...

This is insanely obvious when someone points it out to you but I never picked up on it myself.

Oh and if you want to really poop your pants... and I mean seriously poop your pants. Try playing the video game Resident Evil 7 - forget the cheesy / action you might be expecting from a video game... hardcore scary.

Snowpiercer -

Interesting premise, but I found the overall execution to be utterly goofy; like a poor mashup of thematic influences taken from other films and replicated for idiots.
I could see what they were aiming for, but it just didn't work imo. The black comedy wasn't subtle enough to be perceived as anything other than moronic. The camera work was at times, odd. And the acting sub par.

4/10

Just watched Birds of Prey and like the previous posters it was just boring and had nothing memorable at all in it. I would have enjoyed it more if it just had Bruce for the whole film as he was the most entertaining character.

Someone name me a good film where all the leading characters are women. All the ones I've watched recently have been dire (Ghostbusters, Charlies Angels, Oceans 8, Birds of Prey). Only one that comes to mind for me is Sucker Punch which isn't exactly a movie classic lol.

After what lens flare Abrams did to Star Trek, I thought he'd be perfect for Star Wars, what with turning Star Trek into Star Wars meets Apple store. I was wrong; he wrecked that as well.

Scoob - 6/10
I had been looking fowerd to this since it was first announced.

Im Disappointing

I watched it but it did not feel like a scooby doo movie to me, even less one that was in production for 3 years and meant for the cinema.

The good
I really like all the Hanna Barbera references I could have done with a few more
CGI was a nice change., you could look at every shot for ages.

The bad
I hated the voice actors, lazy (phoned in) sound nothing like any of them, they could have better spent the money elsewhere, Hope they learn a lesson from this.
Just did not feel like a scooby doo movie
the story was a little poor.

I would not have paid to watch this in the cinema but it should do very well on VOD, Still better then trolls world tour.
