What film did you watch last night?

Alien Covenant. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2316204/

I got quite confused at the start of this one due to Prometheus, so I began wondering if I'd seen it before, but thankfully I hadn't. Well, I don't think so anyway...

I didn't realize they were connected though I should have clocked the director...

I rather enjoyed it, as I did Prometheus; worth seeing if you like most sci-fi/horror films. Michael Fassbender was particularly good in this, as he was in Prometheus.

Pretending I'm a Superman - doc about the making of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater videogame series.

A nice blast from the past, love the soundtrack as always. Nice to see the old faces :D

The Nightingale - Had me glued from start to finish. Not for the faint hearted though as its quite brutal but def worth a watch 9/10

After a lifetime of horror and seeking out anything considered extreme, I consider myself fairly robust with horror/violence but I had to stop watching this. I've never in my life not seen a horror movie through.

At the time my child was a little over 1 year old and i'm fairly sure you can guess the part that I had to stop on as I felt physically sick.

I should revisit as it's very well rated but maybe skip that part.

District 9 - 8/10
I had forgotten how good this actually was and probably says more about society now than it did when it was first released.

Really like this movie and remember being excited about what else Blomkamp would bring out afterwards...then we got the lukewarm Elysium and the painful Chappie.

Yeah that bit really shocked me. But yeah it's worth carrying on after that as it gets really good.

Easy rider. No hand holding through the character development with this one. It almost feels like you've started halfway through. Not in a bad way.
What's depressing is in the 50 years the film has been out not much has changes in America.

This is quite poetic imo

George Hanson : You know, this used to be a helluva good country. I can't understand what's gone wrong with it.

Billy : Man, everybody got chicken, that's what happened. Hey, we can't even get into like, a second-rate hotel, I mean, a second-rate motel, you dig? They think we're gonna cut their throat or somethin'. They're scared, man.

George Hanson : They're not scared of you. They're scared of what you represent to 'em.

Billy : Hey, man. All we represent to them, man, is somebody who needs a haircut.

George Hanson : Oh, no. What you represent to them is freedom.

Billy : What the hell is wrong with freedom? That's what it's all about.

George Hanson : Oh, yeah, that's right. That's what's it's all about, all right. But talkin' about it and bein' it, that's two different thangs. I mean, it's real hard to be free when you are bought and sold in the marketplace. Of course, don't ever tell anybody that they're not free, 'cause then they're gonna get real busy killin' and maimin' to prove to you that they are. Oh, yeah, they're gonna talk to you, and talk to you, and talk to you about individual freedom. But they see a free individual, it's gonna scare 'em.

Billy : Well, it don't make 'em runnin' scared.

George Hanson : No, it makes 'em dangerous

Been having a film binge on prime.

National Lampoon’s Vacation

National Lampoon’s European Vacation

Neither of those have aged particularly well, but they are childhood favourites.

Hacksaw Ridge (UHD) - wow, just wow. Really hammers home the horrific nature of warfare. Stunning in 4K.

Midway (UHD) - too much crap CGI, but it had its moments.

Life (UHD) - a bit slow!

National Lampoon's Christmas has got to be one of the best festive films ever - Chevy Chase just disappeared in the nineties.

El Camino - Essentially an extended episode of Breaking Bad, very good, kept with the plot without spoiling the original premise - 8/10

Yup, probably my favourite Christmas film.
